Quick Question: LPP Mag for 10mm?

I have success with AA#9, 800x, Blue Dot, Longshot, Power Pistol and Alliant Steel for top end velocity for the 180 gr. I use magnum primers for all of them.

AA#9 is probably my favorite of them.

I don't load 10mm, but I just looked up data from Sierra. They show a handful of different powders getting the velocities you're looking for. It's $5 for a year subscription to their app. Well worth it.

Dunno about LPP magnum, but I load SPP magnum primers in .380. It's not smart enough to know the difference.

This, exactly:
if your not pushing pressure right to the max I would probably just swap it, shoot it across a chrono to make sure there was no major velocity change and be done with it. Changing primers between regular and magnum in that cartridge is likely not going to make much change at all. Winchester does not even make a Large Magnum Pistol Primers their Larger Pistol Primer are suggested for both regular and magnum larger pistol uses.

My 6" KKM barrel in my Glock just a few weeks ago went right at 1300fps with 13gr of AA #9 with 2 different 180 jhp bullets. I'm using CCI LP Magnum primers. AA9 does everything I want it to do so it is the only powder I've ever tried in 10mm.

thanks! do you have light primer issues?

I use large pistol mag under a charge of blue dot or HS7. Has worked fine for thousands of loads. Probably unnecessary for those powders. but like you, it was the primers I had on hand. and the load manual specified mag primers so that's what I bought.

thanks bud! I just found a stash of 165gn frangible that I forgot about. Going to try Accurate #5 at 20% under max and see what speed I’m getting.

Anybody got a load for 1275-1300fps 180gn?
9.3 Longshot, Hornady 180 FMJ, Fed 150 LPP, Starline...avg 1276 from a G20.

Since when, I'm unsure, but per Hodgdon, Longshot min/max load was 8.5/9.5. Was. Within the past year Hodgdon revised their Lonshot data, now 7.0/8.2. What eye-opening testing prompted that?
