Quick question regarding 590A1 18.5" and 9shot tube

I'm currently looking at a 590A1 Bantam w/the 18.5" barrel to come in and was wondering if I could replace the 6rd tube with the 9rd tube that comes with the 20" models.

Any help would be appreciated. Also, do I need to buy any additional springs?

Humm ? I'm not familiar with a 590 Bantum ? Do you have a factory reference number for this model ?

As far as I know you have to change both the magazine tube and the barrel to match the barrels underlug length from the receiver in order to go from a 6 to a 9 round magazine.

Good question. Mag extentions have always been a tricky proposition on the Mossbergs.

I do have the factory #, it's 51520. The one I bought (being shipped) has a Bantam(shorter) stock, 18.5" barrel, ghost ring sights and a 6rd tube magazine.

Thanks ! I still couldn't find this version on the web site but found reference to it elseware . The answer to you question however remains the same. In order to install the 9 shot verson magazine tube you would also have to change the barrel to a 20 inch version. Otherwise the the barrel retaining lug would not be compatable with the longer magazine tube.

It would have been cheaper therefore to order the standard 590A1 in its 9 shot version and replace the buttstock with the 13" LOP Bantom stock. (if you wanted the 9 shot capacity)
