Okay, after my frustrating attempt to make my 11-87 into a service gun, I've decided that simplicity is better and I'm going back to an 870.

I still have a Wilson +2 magazine extension. So, I don't need an 870 that has an extended tube.

Do the 870P models featured in their LE catalog have those annoying dimples in the magazine tube, requiring a dremel to install the extension? I mean, the 870P models that don't come with an extended tube?

I wonder. I've had a shotgun with ghost rings before. But...I shoot shot almost exclusively, I wonder if like a tritium bead wouldn't be better for my purposes. Hrmm...

Nope, no dimples on the 870Ps. And a bead should do perfectly well for most applications given sufficient practice to determine 'sight picture.'

I keep coming back to pumpguns for serious uses too for some reason...

I prefer the rifle sights and a dab of orange paint (maybe a fiber-optic front sight someday.) The rifle sights aren't slow and offer a nice accurate picture if you would somehow need to accurately place a slug. They are also quite durable and rugged.
