Can solid references be provided for these quotes?
 
As much as I despise those two individuals the quotes attributed to J. Reno and S. Brady need some verification, I think they have been debunked some where. maybe here - http://www.guncite.com/

Also some of the Jefferson quotes are of him quoting Cesare Beccarius

Indeed, Thomas Jefferson in his "Commonplace Book," copied a passage from Beccaria related to the issue of gun control. The quote reads, "Laws that forbid the carrying of arms . . . disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes . . . Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."

Please nobody get offended, I know some of you love this line but, well.... I hate it. Aside from being an Über-Cliché, it reinforces the notion that police will save you which we all know is not only impossible it isn't in the job description for cops.

This one has been misused more than any other Biblical quote of which I know. At it's face it assumes that Christ tells you to buy weapons.

When the word 'sword' is used, it refers to "The Sword of The Lord." Meaning, the speech of The Creator.

For example, "His tongue is like a double-edged sword."

The quote means that knowledge of Scripture is more important than food or clothing. It means that if you have a warm coat and no knowledge of Truths, it would be better for you to sell your possessions and buy a set of The Scriptures.

It troubles me that this quote has been the rallying cry of every bubba who seeks to justify the 2A with The Bible.

It means exactly what it says. It would say the law or the word if it was referring to scriptures. And then the disciples come to Jesus and say, "'See, Lord, here are two swords.' 'That is enough.' He replied."

Tell me how that says sword of the Lord, scroll, law, the Word, or anything similar? It doesn't. It specifically says sword.

Luke 11:21 is often used out of context for self defense though. Jesus was using it as an ananolgy for the spirit. We use it not as the analogy that Jesus meant, but the literal meaning.
