Provided he agrees to lead us all in 'Happy Birthday' every Christmas .

I don't think he'd go for it--is he even a member?

Heck - I'm Jewish and even I'd be up for that. No problems with it here.

I'm always up for a good birthday party.

Now, with that said, let it be known that if he tries to take away my jelly donut - he and I are going to tango.

The Gunny could rip politicians with his style and make it enjoyable. The fun would begin when the politicians, thinking they had been insulted, frothed at the mouth without thinking. Very few politicians could stand up to a serious ass chewing without going ballistic. The shrillness of their answers and their mannerisms would make priceless television. The crew that play like gentlemen sure haven't helped all that much. It is a well paying game to those in DC.

I wonder if Tom or Gunny are on this forum ever. I wonder what a good way would be to get them both to see this thread?

Sacred cows make the best cheeseburgers.

Bruce, you must read Robert Kiyosaki?

I keep thinking of one series where Ermey had a couple of Civil War enactors showing how the rifle-musket worked. Neither of them hit the target, and the holes in the backstop showed they were keyholing.

I kept expecting the Gunny to whip off his cover, smack them over the head and say, "Increase the charge, Dummies! You ain't expanding the skirts!":D

Much as I love Full Metal Jacket, I find the continuation of his DI schtick rather unpleasant to sit through. I gave Mail Call a shot and only made it through a couple of episodes.

Posters/advertising would be great, and if there's another side to him that we haven't seen, commercials would be good. Can't seem him in a 'suit' position of any kind, however.

(But I also didn't realize anyone cared about Tom Selleck anymore.)

Come on, people. Don't tell me that the "Gunny" is the only part of R Lee Ermey that you can see.... :banghead:

If you check out his filmography, you'll see that he's played a lot more roles than just the ball-breaking DI type. (I especially liked his portrayal of John Hay in "The Rough Riders" and as House's Dad....)

If elected, I have no doubt he would serve with as much dignity and diplomacy as Selleck (whom I like as well) or any other well-known veteran. He would also be a great outreach to current military and veterans. And the kids would remember him from "Toy Story" and "X Men III".

He's a well-rounded candidate. I see no reason NOT to support him.... :D

Not that he had a huge part, but I always thought one of the better movies he was in was Se7en.

I've read of personal accounts of R Lee and they said that he was a fairly reserved guy, off camera. He was DI in real life. So, it doesn't take much for him to slip into that role. I think that far too many people relate him to his role in FMJ and Mail Call. It's called, "acting"!!! Sure, it's a bit "over the top", it's supposed to be. I watched Tom Selleck when Rosie got on him, he didn't really impress me, but she impressed me even less as she is a hypocrite. (Her bodyguards carry, so if she's so anti-gun, how come they carry??) I think that R Lee would make a good spokesman/president for the NRA. I seriously doubt that he would go off on a DI style rant when speaking in public on such a serious subject.

Come on guys, let's not give the guy a hard time for something he did as an actor (The Jack Black thing). Remember the movie "In and Out" from '97? R Lee isnt' the only actor who has had a scene kissing another ma

I said it wasn't about him kissing a man. It was about the man he kissed. If he'd kissed, say, John Wayne, well... who wouldn't?

I find the DI attitude very annoying. Selleck would be a good middle of the roader. Personally, I think the most charasmatic of them all, who can go head to head with anyone, and bring in some younger people, would be Ted Nugent.

Well, if we are going to rely soley upon image as the fundamental requirement for the job, my vote is for someone who is truly exemplary.

I say we nominate Yoda.

Sorry to say it... but where this fight is concerned Clinton, Feinstein et al ARE the biggest, baddest, meanest motherf*****s in the valley at this point in history.

Maybe, but points off for them deciding it's ok to drug the opposition.

to the people who have met him, i believe the reason you feel somthing off tilt in him is because he is an actor. a good one. actors are strange people and many actors are down right disturbing even when they are friendly. ive studied acting a bit and have done some limited stage, film, and industrial acting. i would like to think i know enough about the subject to speak about this.

far as ermey for nra, i donno. id vote yes, if i voted just because i like him. when he speaks he seems likeable. watch the behind the scenes footage of 'texas chainsaw massacre: the beginning' . somthing about that footage lets you see into who ermey is.

selleck, heck, i never even bothered listening to him untill i read the rosie debate link posted on the first page. my opinion of tom has skyrocketed.
