First Impressions:

What a wonderful little pistol. Some have compared the
RAMI to the Glock 26. I felt uneasy handling and shooting the
G26, due to my grip. With the RAMI my little 'pinky' finger
sits on the magazine baseplate. FYI: I have medium hands
with long fingers. The ugly duckling (to some) CZ40B
has been transformed into a very size efficient 9 x 19!
Something that the 40B should have been long ago,
we will probably never see the 40B frame with a 75B
slide.

The RAMI sits in your hand with a chunky presence. You
know that it isn't a polymer frame. The extra ounces help
control recoil and that is a good thing with some loads
like my Remington +P+ or Sentry + Ps.

I found the trigger pulls to be typical CZ. Nothing great
or horrible. Heavy but smooth in DA without a gritty
feeling that some of you might find with other brands.Single Action was smooth and crisp, quite
surprising...given the trigger on my 40B. I'd say the P-01 trigger actually enhances the RAMI. Maybe i'm just used
to it on my P-01 and Witness. Wouldn't mind a Pre-B
with one either:) like other CZs, the action gets only
better with use.

Reliability: My pistol ran perfectly with all loads as tested.

NGA SENTRY +P

Remington 115 gr. +P+

CCI BLAZER 115 gr. FMJ and HP

Handload Remington 115 gr. HP

CCI/SPEER 124 gr Gold-Dot + P

I tested the RAMI with one of the TEN rounders,
a couple CZ75 15 -shot mags, and two Ten-Shot
75B magazines. A 13-shot Compact mag was also
tested. The little RAMI digested them all
and asked for more!

Accuracy:

I'll leave the 25 yard testing to Handguns or Guns & Ammo.
Most will choose the RAMI for personal protection, and a
larger CZ (or other pistol) for the Range.

I opted for a starting distance of 15 yards, then moved
up at a later stage. Using the DA for the first shot. I shot low and to the left. Very interesting, as the test target showed low and right. My ammo was the SENTRY load that is very
light. The recoil seemed light, but it really roared out of the
RAMI. The SENTRY left trademark 'cookie-cutter' holes in
the target.

By the time I went to the Gold-Dots, I was getting the
gun on target..and actually hit the orange bulls eye once.

Moving up to approx seven yards. I was able to draw the
RAMI, double tap the target until dry. Reload with 10 or
15 more rounds. The little gun got pretty hot, but didn't
falter along the way. We got some good muzzle flash from
the +P+ loads. The 124 gr. GD was also impressive.

That is my choice of 9mm for the winter season.
Seems to work very well for the NYPD and Glock 19
length duty guns. As well as with other depts that
have adopted it.

The RAMI points very well. I seemed to be able to get
onto target very fast. While some might take notice
of the very slim Safety. Other will probably see this
as a postive feature. When you carry a gun Cocked and
Locked ( as I do sometimes) the gun can move enough to
dislodge the safety. Having a slimmer safety usually helps
with this problem..at least in my book.

I had no difficulty in engaging or taking the safety off
while shooting..or transfering the pistol to my girlfriend.
Treating all guns with respect. I always handle each
as if it was fully loaded.Safety First!

Woman's Gun?

My girlfriend is a Gulf War vet and no stranger to firearms.

She had some problem with racking the slide, but not
after she cocked the hammer first. The DA didn't bother
her as it was much like her Taurus revolver.

She commented on how compact the RAMI was, but that
it had quite the bark and bite. She shot it with the +P+
loads and said that she would Not care for a Rami in .40!

Her small hands fit much better than mine, but she has
her eye on my CZ83. eek!

Again, I'll have to compliment Radic and Milan for taking
a not so popular design (Z-40/40B) and creating a viable
contender for compact CCW punch.

I'm so impressed, that my CZ83 will be taking the summer
off. The more powerful RAMI will get the nod. I might add
that my HBE P-01 holster fits quite nice! The HUME holster
made for the 40B works well. Good enough while you await
a HBE or High Noon holster.

CHANGES: I could see NITES and Hakans in my future,
well when my Presentation Grips arrive. Thanks, HP:)

Would like to see CZ offer the RAMI in satin nickle.if not
stainless steel. A dual-tone might attract some buyers.

Ambi controls for our left handed CZ fans..and also a decocker
for those wishing such.

The RAMI is worthy of the CZUB name and keeps the CZ
banner flying high in my humble opinon. Hope you will czech one out soon. I promise some In Action fotos of my range trip.

RE: Report

Very nice write-up. I've had the same experience with my RAMI 9mm (first time to the range yesterday) and my RAMI .40. I really couldn't tell that much difference in the recoil between the .40 and shooting +p in the 9mm. The extra weight of the RAMI really helps to tame the muzzle flip.

I too am looking for night sights in the future, hopefully XS Dots and my grips are on order:D

The only CZ I've ever shot is my CZ-75B and I am dying to shoot the RAMI. Very nice write up.

Thanks for the info! A Rami 40 is on my shopping list, in fact its second in line on the "next purchase" list. I have a 97b that I simply LOVE but its a tad large for CC.

Picked up may .40 RAMI last Saturday, and I believe Firearm nirvana has been achieved. It now goes with my 75 and CZ83.

Interesting comment on the .40s recoil. My girlfriend aksed if the RAMI
came in .40? After shooting my gun with +P+ 9mm, she changed her mind.

A .40 RAMI would be cool for those fans of compact power.

I hope to add pics to my review. but my camera wasn't cooperating.

Thanks for the great review!

This will become my 9mm carry piece for when I get my carry permit. My 75B is a bit too large, but the RAMI I handled felt perfect for carry. Too bad the only shop in town carrying these is asking $520 :what: . I too wish they made these in stainless steel, that would be great for carry.

$520???

Ouch....that price (retail?) is waaaay out of line. Even if you bought it from gunbroker.com or whittakergun.com in KY, I would think your total would be around $450 including shipping and FFL fee. It's nice to support our local stores, but geeesh :banghead:

themic asked:
can i ask what the RAMI cost you? did you buy from a local dealer?
I had my local dealer order me a 9mm RAMI two weeks ago. I paid $429 plus tax (same price as my P-01).

Does your feed 147gr JHP reliably?

Mine didn't but bending the top of the spring up a bit to get the nose up a little quicker seems to have cured the problem.

CZF,
Is that a CZ poster used for the backdrop of your RAMI photo? If so, where can I get one?

My .40 RAMI had some feeding problems. The flat nosed WWB's would hit the back of the feed ramp and hold the slide open. I polished the feed ramp with crocus cloth and some jewelers rouge. 450 rounds since with no problems. The most accurate rounds were S&B 180 gr FMJ's. Some Pearl Drops tooth polish on the rails and 500 hand strokes really smoothed up slide. If I can put another 500 rounds thru it with no problems, it might get carried this summer. Good luck and shoot well.

Hi they are actually gunmats. They come in 2 handgun styles and one for
rifles.

CZ-USA probably has some left.
