Hello all, As everyone has noticed, powder has been scarce, at least certain kinds anyway. I'm gathering what ever powder I can find for my 7.62x51mm or .308win, as long as there is data available, so anyone use RamShot TAC in that caliber? If so how do you like/dislike it, as compared to your usual powder.
Thanks, LM.
PS. I posted this on another forum, but so far only one reply, so I'm posting it hear also.

I haven't used TAC in .308, but have in .223, 7.62x54r, and 8x57. Its a versatile powder, meters extremely well, and burns clean. Plenty of data available for TAC at the ramshot website.

I usually load with H4895 but have been switching to TAC. I can buy it cheaper and it meters better since its a spherical powder.

TAC is a great powder. It contains the same copper fouling reducing agent that CFE223 has. It has always had it in the powder, Ramshot just hasn't advertised it very well.

I don't reload .308 but use it for heavy projectiles in .223.

I had read the same thing several times, but when I asked one of the techs at Western Powder about it, I got the following response:

TAC doesn’t contain any flash suppressor or Copper reducing compound. TAC having a fairly fast burn rate for the 308 will already provide for a lower flash. No one can provide us any proof that the copper reducing agent works, so I suggest getting a good cleaner like our Montana Extreme Copper Killer. Coppering is the nature of the Beast.

I really like TAC in .308 and 5.56 loads. I originally got it specifically for loading M855 clone ammo, since it's one of the few powders that has NATO pressure load data published for it. I now use it for loading lighter bullets in .308 as well, since it's easy to meter, accurate and gives velocities a good bit higher than anything else that I've tried.

TAC has many good properties: very clean burning, easy to meter, versatile, allegedly temperature insensitive, etc.

I have used it to reload .223; 308 Win; 35 Remington; and 35 Whelen. I switched to TAC in lieu of H335 for my AR 15s due to it being much cleaner burning. Velocities and accuracy was just as good.

As you can see it does have versatility among several calibers. It is really a great powder --- If you can find any.
