Two in one packages seem like a great thing but not many people I've spoken with have used them. Need a range finder and a combo setup is tempting.

Bushnell, Burris, and Nikon all brand what looks like the same scope:

Bushnell and Leopold both make one model of range finding binoculars:
Bushnell Fusion
Leupold Link

They are all fairly expensive but my issue is the price difference between them and the high end. $700-900 seems to be the low end and it jumps to $2500-4000 for Zeiss and Leica. With that kind of gap I assume the low end is made to last a year or two? They don't seem to be very popular regardless. Anyone own any of the above?

The thing is, range finders are battery operated consumer electronics.
And won't last forever.

But quality scopes and binoculars are lifetime investments that will last forever.

Kind of like buying a HD TV with a built-in VCR tape player.
You just know the VCR is gonna shoot craps way before the big screen TV!

The other thing is excess weight.
Who wants a combo rangfinder/scope on thier rifle that weighs as much as your average brick?
