My 4.25” S&W Model 69 isn’t brutal with .44 Magnums. I will also say it’s not pleasant, either. It packs a wallop when it’s needed, but Skeeter-load .44 Specials are plenty enough for anything I would ever use it for.
And I also find the Model 69 to be as easy to shoot as my Model 629 Mountain Gun and/or my 4” Model 57 .41 Mag. I think it may be in the L-frame grip, it seems to fit nicely in my mitts.
The 2.75” .44 Magnum miiiight just be too much of a good thing for me though.
