RANGE REPORT: Glock G26 vs. CZ 2075 RAMI 9mm

Hey gang!

I bought my 1st Glock (G26) recently and it left me with 2 subcompact 9mm's. I plan on using the G26 as my primary carry gun, but before I sell or trade my RAMI for something else, I wanted to make sure I was making the right decision.

Before I begin I just want everyone to know I am by no means a Glock lover or a CZ hater. I own several different types of pistols and I am not loyal to one particular manufacturer. I always keep an open minded, unbiased opinion when it comes to firearms.

Ammunition was WWB 115gr 9mm, I put 250 rounds through each gun.

TAKE DOWN:

The Glock is the easier to disassemble than the CZ. It will however take some time and caution to get used to having to pull the trigger in order to take it apart.

VERDICT: GLOCK

ERGONOMICS:

I am 6'3" with large hands. Both fit my hand well, the +2 extention I bought for the G26 does make a big difference in controllability for me. With the stock CZ mag, I have to tuck my pinky under the mag while firing which I don't particularly like to do. If I were to keep the RAMI I would buy an extention.

The Glock mags are more comfortable to load. The metal edged CZ mags were wearing on my fingers after a while.

Both guns point naturally for me, although there is a noticable difference in the "Glock Angle" when switching from gun to gun.

VERDICT: TIE (Both are comfortable and the CZ would fit me better with the grip extention.)

CAPACITY: 12+1 in the G26 with the +2 mag extention and ability to use G17 or 19 mags in the G26 as backup is great also. RAMI is 10+1.

VERDICT: GLOCK

RELIABILITY:

Both guns were cleaned before I shot today.

Zero failures of any kind with the Glock.

Surprisingly, I had my 1st FTF with the RAMI today. Tip of the bullet got stuck on the feed ramp. Don't know if it was just bad luck or what.

VERDICT : GLOCK (The RAMI has been a very reliable gun for me up to this point)

ACCURACY:

I shot both guns 2 handed after IWB holster draw, with approx. 1-2 second delay between shots at 7 yds. I was going more for practical self defense accuracy, not bullseye shooting. I do not consider myself a marksman but I have always been acceptably accurate.

Here are the guns.


The Glock won the accuracy contest hands down. The felt recoil with the Glock seemed lighter which was surprising, the RAMI seemed "snappier" which resulted in more "flyers". Follow up shots seemed to be quicker and the sights lined up nicely with the G26. I had no problem adjusting to the "Glock Angle" The CZ's accuracy is more than adequate for self-defense, but the G26 had tighter groups. The target on the left is the Glock and the right is the CZ.

I wanted to see how much the grip extention helped accuracy with the Glock so I shot a few rounds through the mag with no extention. There was a noticable difference in the size of the groups, but it was still better than the CZ. Here is an example.

VERDICT: GLOCK

I would be more than happy continuing to carry the CZ as it has been reliable (until today ) and is more than accurate enough for self defense. It may be that the Glock is just a more natural shooter for me. I'm sure others could tear 1 ragged hole with the CZ.

However, based on todays experience, the G26 will be my new 9mm carry gun. I like the fact with the +2 grip extention I can carry 12+1 in such a small package. I also have a G17 mag that I will carry as my backup, another + for Glock.

I will be sorry to see the RAMI go, but I have other guns on my "To Buy" list.

Nice report. I too found I shoot better with a place for my pinkie to go. It feels really awkward shooting without a spot for it since I am not used to it.

Interesting post, thanks! My new RAMI 40 S&W came with two 8 round mags and one with an extension giving me 10 rounds. I should say that my RAMI is "new to me" not brand new. I do think, though, that the 10 rounder is an original CZ magazine.

I already own Glock pistols and S&W revolvers..They are very simple - easy to maintain - serve a purpose & work great...I can't find any serious reason to spend money on another brand of handgun..

Very good post. I ran the same test, and sold my Glock. The only difference I had was both guns ran flawlessly with no failures of any kind.
Personally my only complaint with Glock is the grip angle. It just isn't a natural pointer for me. I am glad that it is for you.

Capactiy 12+1 with grip extension, Glock, capacty RAMI with extension - 14. BTW, RAMI can use stock CZ mags, as well....
Verdict - RAMI


That would also tip your ergonomics to RAMI, as well.

I'm going to have to disagree with you on a lot of your opinions. Some of them just don't make sense.

Any weapon requiring you to pull the trigger to disassemble is inherently more dangerous. Many Glock NDs occur due to people forgetting to check the chamber. I would at least give this a draw, but all the CZ takes to disassemble is to push out the slide stop, not hard at all.

Have you considered using the CZ loader they give you with your pistol? It makes loading magazines effortless. No wear to your thumb at all. I would give the win to CZ here.

A stock Glock and stock CZ have the same capacity. When you add an extension to 1 and not the other, it's not a fair comparison anymore. This should still be a tie. Or a win for CZ with the +4 extensions.

I have had this issue with my CZ compact. I believe weak mag springs to be the case but either way it is a definite worry. I agree with the Glock for this one as its reliability is near legendary. But the CZ is close.

ACCURACY:

I can't comment on accuracy as each person shoots a gun differently. The polymer body may absorb some of the G26 recoil. But my CZ compact is a dead ringer for the bullseye at 7 yds. It's ridiculously accurate. Probably due to the forged barrel.

Based on my observations I would put it at a tie depending on whether you use the +4s in the CZ, if you do then the win goes to CZ.

But hey, this is all just IMHO!
