Your dad obviously had some woodworking talent.... That rifle is eminently qualified for family heirloom status. I've got some guns I call family heirlooms but they are just regular production guns that were owned and carried by my dad and some older relatives. Yours is very special because that stock work is a lasting tribute to a family member that actually created that beautiful stock with his own hands from burled Maple that he himself selected and then spent about a year getting it just right.
 
Nice job! Here's a VZ-24 sporter in .30-'06 from Kimber of America circa 1996 or '97. I ditched the original black synthetic stock for a nice piece of walnut and added a Timney trigger and Leupold VX II 3-9 scope. SANY0367 (2).JPG
