Finally got to the range yesterday. A friend of my wife's wanted to go shooting and wanted some pointers. I took 3, 9mm pistols and my 32 H&R Mag. revolver and a few dozen various handloads. Lot's of fun teaching her and we had a good time. A couple thoughts; Servicios Aventuras primers, My Taurus G3 had 4 FTF out of 32 rounds, My G3 has a "re-strike" feature but the 3 that I retried wouldn't fire. Ran some through my Masada and IIRC had a couple more (124 Nukes over mid charge of CFE pistol in mixed brass). I also had some 32 H&R handloads (85 gr. XTP over mid charge of CFE in new Starline brass). With SA primers I got a few FTFs, maybe 6 out of 28 but this is the first time shooting my Charter Arms Professional, which worked great with factory ammo I used my RCBS bench prime to prime all the SA primed cases. Next time I'm going to se my ram prime to make sure I get a bit of "pre-load/crush" on the SA primers. (I've never been 100% comfortable with the RCBS, but with other primers I've had no problems) .

Tried a new tool. Old and wobbly and experiencing pain when I bend over I've been looking for a way to pick up brass that I could survive. I found a "grabber/reacher" that worked great. Mine is not foldable but I did get one with the rubber cups, and I found one a bit cheaper then the one linked. I picked up about 50, 9mm and a few 32 H&R cases I dropped, and walking around the "range" I picked up about 15 assorted cases. This fat, crippled old man managed to pick up almost all my expended brass, pain free! https://www.amazon.com/Grabber-Reacher-Suction-Foldable-Aluminum/dp/B08GKXHL6P/ref=sr_1_39?keywords=reach+grabber+tool&qid=1674844152&sr=8-39&th=1

Glad to hear you had a pain free trip. My RCBS priming system on my RC has never given me an issue. Consistency is the key. I have 1K of the SA primers in the stash but have not tried them. I did get some FTF’s out of a lot of Federal last year, narrowed it the particular brick. I have the boxes that have this batch of primers in them marked so I am not chasing ghosts or panic. These gave me problems in several revolvers so it was easy to eliminate the gun as an issue as is similar to your situation.

Glad you got a shot!

Glad you got back out there, keep it up

I just loaded 1,000 .38 Spl cases with SA primers, I hope that they don’t create a bunch of Bang, Bang, click, click rounds when I load them.

Stay safe.

I use a fold up dust pan, the one with the long handle and a broom to sweep up my brass on my deck. no fuss no mess. I can sweep up a bunch with one sweep

Glad you got to get out for some fun.

Thanks for the link on the grabber.

My lower back has seen better days. Picking up brass is painful.

For retrieving shotshells, I use a long magnet, 3”. In my old, all brass cases, the only thing magnetic is the primer. But on newer, steel/brass cases, it work’s fantastic.

Don’t know if it will pick up brass cases? Probably handgun, probably not rifle.

It’s not mine, belongs to the club. But since I’m one of the few that shoot a semi, I usually have it to myself.

You don’t have to grab, just put it near the brass end of the case, and I can pick up 3-4 cases at once.

just an idea.

The grabber works great in the dirt/pebbles at the "range" and with the rubber cups I can pick up a 22 LR case without getting any dirt/pebbles, like a "nut broom". 32 Long, 32 H&R and 9mm brass is really easy/positive to pick up...

I'm not giving up on the SA primers just yet. Next try may be some 38 Special, or 32 ACP brass (for an Italian police surplus Beretta) . My RCBS primer sometimes just doesn't feel right. It works most of the time, but on occasion it feels like the primers aren't seating properly. Prolly just me...

At the rifle range I am working PT we have those or something like them on aver range. They are wonderful. Enjoyed hearing that you have made it back out to shoot!
