Anybody have any experience with Rapid Reticle scopes? There seems to be a growing availability of scopes with distance ranging reticles other than mil dots out there. I really like Nightforce's MOAR reticles with MOA markings. But you pay top dollar for Nightforce scopes. Rapid Reticle seems to offer a reasonably priced alternative.

Anybody here have any direct experience with these scopes? I'm thinking about the RR-Evolution-BLK scope for my 16.25-inch .300 BLK Encore barrel. Nice to have the holdover points for both sub- and supersonic ammo built in.

How good is the glass in these scope? Repeatable? Rugged? Inquiring minds would like to know.

The silence is deafening! Guess no one here has used one. Anybody handled one? Initial impressions?

Bought the RR-800 in 2010 on advice of a cousin who had one and I feel it's a real sleeper. Now I own everything from bargain basement Simmons scopes for the kids' .22s to Leupold, Nikon, Hawke, Sightron and Weaver and the Pride Fowler is by far my favorite.

I mounted it on my 700 chambered in 30-06 and found Winchester Power Max Bonded 180s were as close to a perfect match for the reticle as my aim could muster. In 2011 that combo got me a moose with 5 min. of legal light left per the guide, with a good crisp picture. Temps ranged from just below freezing to mid 50s with no fogging. Clicks are as positive as my Leupold's and adjustments spot on. We were rough enough on equipment to bust 2 CV joints, a drive shaft and the composite stock on my back-up rifle.

If anything, the slight drawback is reticle size on the lower end of the power range where you must remember that 100 yds is above the centerline of the glass (on my model). I've only made it to 300 yds so far but my cousin was hitting dead on at nearly 600 yds gauged with a Leupold rangefinder.

I'm sure it won't best Nightforce in any category save speed but definitely happy with the money I spent, around $600 at the time. If you haven't seen the RR itself, Zeiss licensed it from PF and call it the Rapid Z reticle.

Thanks much; just the kind of review I was looking for. My current scopes are mostly Leupold; also have one Nightforce and a couple of Mueller APVs on my rimfires. These look interesting to me because of the ranging reticle in a fairly inexpensive scope.

several years ago, some guys were running a forum called Longrangeinternational.com and they were big fans of rapid reticle scopes. some rep/owner of the company used to post on that forum regularly and he said they were going to send me a demo scope but never did, so i never put my hands on it. that forum closed down years ago but one of those guys still advertises classes in the Georgia hometown section of arfcom. his username is cmshoot

It looks like a very good reticle for distance shooting without spinning turrets and forgetting where you started from. It does look similar to the Z reticle
