Rat shot in a 22 SP101= SUCCESS!

I really like my SP101 .22 4". In the pic the large rat had done a number in the engine compartment of my truck, stripped a lot of the insulation off the fender wells and hood, chewed a few wires, gnawed a hole in an expensive silicone turbocharger duct coupling.
I thought I was dealing with a squirrel until I finally got a quick glimpse one day. Tried to get him for weeks with various traps, but he was a smart rat bastard.

In the end I actually shot him off the top of the transmission after finally
cornering him one day

Good riddance. I now leave my hood up so they don't sleepon the engine block anymore. I'm getting a garage built so as to house the vehicle indoors.

If you want to stop the rats from getting under the hood,where they are harder to shoot, stop at Tractor Supply and get some "Fresh Cab". It'll be over by the rodent section.

Put a bag under the hood and they will not go in thay area again. Helps keep the rats in the yard where you can shoot them eaiser.

Been using it for years now. Put it out in the cabin and no more mice now. I would chase the mice at night with a H&R pistol in the cabin.

We have no noticeable rodent problem here... we have a feral cat problem. A bit further out from town, 'yotes and wild dogs eat more of the cats, and lions eat the dogs...

If you want to shoot alot of birdshot from your .38.357 I highly recommend getting CCI shot capsules and reload your own birdshot. I've got tons of the stuff.

CCI shotshells: better than a Taurus Judge any day. Pistols operate at higher pressures than shotguns, and out of a short barrel there's no question which is better.

Nice shooting. I used to use .22 rat shot in my grandparents barn shooting mice and rats. It is actually pretty fun!.

I had a rat or ground squirrel chew up the wiring harness on my old F-250 diesel. Most of the places wanted an absurd amount of money to replace it, until we found a mechanic that was willing to just splice it for $40.

I used to hunt rats with my target air rifle. A dab of peanut butter on a plate with a good field of fire. You then just have to sit and wait for them. Not long normally, and "click" they are toast. I am sure you could do it with CB or BB caps today if you can still find them. I liked the precision of my target air rifle since you could sit and accurately place the shot right where you wanted it.
