So I am wondering how everyone would rate the Springfield XD???

How well made is it?

How does it shoot?

How reliable is it?

How is it's accuracy?

Has any parts rusted?

Would you buy another or recommend it to a friend?

Is it better or worse than a Glock?

Are you insane?!?!?! :what: :what: Do you know what type of trouble you are inviting?!?!? :what: :what: I wonder how long it will take for all the Glock gods to descend upon this thread?;)

10 out of 10.

Extremely well constructed.

Better than I do.

around 1k shots and zero malfunctions of any kind.

Shoots POA, what more can you ask?

Nope and I'm not especially gentle (though I am a clean freak).

Yup

Couldn't say.

I didn't vote, because I did not have an option. I had an XD40 that I won in a 3 Gun Match, but I traded it on a Glock 19, as my primary pistol is a G17. The XD is wonderful, and is about the best value for the money out there today. Mine was fantastic, but I don't shoot .40, and I did not want another caliber to contend with. I rate the XD highly. I recomend them to anyone.

1)which one? :) my service model .40 and sc both shoot great! they are in my opinion the best guns on the market, the servic model did hold that title but the more i shoot the sc the more i love it!

2)well look at my signature and there you will see the rd count for both of my xd's. that is using every kind of jhp imaginable, fmj, from all the big makers, cnl ultramax, remanufactured ammo, reloads of all sorts. i have never had a single malfuntion that was to the fault of the gun, only one bad reload. which was a squib, btw it didn't hurt the gun at all. it is reliale enough that i trust mine and my families lives with it on a daily basis and will continue to do so.
also look in the part about torture test i push the xd to the limit and i let everyone know how it turned out. i am currently working on more test and putting the poor xd through more hell, and compiling my findings here on this forum. sand test was done ith lots and lots of sand ll inside the weapon the only pace there wasn't snd in large amounts was the barrel, and that was simply because i didn't want to hurt the barel. anyway alot of sandlater and 50rs no malfunctions! that is the short version but i have already covered that many times here.

3) accuracy, well i am by no means a great pistol shot but they out shoot me everytime. the best group that i have gotten with the service model standing off hand at 15yds was a little over an inch.
at 50yds i have gotten a on time 3 shot group of 4.5 inches i know i ca probally do better than that, well the gun can i don't kno about me! oh yeah and the little sc is a single hole puncher too which i thought was crazy from the little guy but he can definetly hold his own!

4)nope, i take great care of my guns, but i haven't had a single issue with mine rusting at all. maybe i will have some rust to report when i do the deep freeze torture test but as of now none!

5)If i had a small precentage of the money i have helped make sa i would be a happy man. not only have i reccomended them, i bet i have helped sell at least 30 of them. everyone that is a buddy of mine or a relative in the shooting communty owns one or will be buying one in the next little bit. my latest victim is my dad who was a hardcore glocker, 2-model 19's and a 17. traded a 19 for a service 9mm xd!:)

6) for me it is better than a glock but that is my personal opinion and i am glad that I have the option to make the decision to carry and shoot whatever i want, i will forever be a sa and an xd man!

Made very well, shoots good , accuracy not to bad with the 3in barrel, no rust its possible but oh well i think i would catch it before it could do anything, i'd buy it again & recommend one. i never got my hands on that G26i wanted but somday:p

i still cant compare GLOCKS & XD's i started with GLOCK and still like em but i like the XD to, so its up to you both are good and kinda ugly but as long as they go bang

I'll answer what I can based on the few mags I've run thru an XD40 that belonged to a friend.

How well made is it?
From what my friend tells me, and from what I've seen shooting his, everything says quality weapon.
How does it shoot?
One of the nicest triggers I've felt in a striker fired pistol. It shot really well, and I'm a 1911 fan.
How reliable is it?
I experienced no problems with the few mags I fired. The friend who owns it reports zero malfunctions.
How is it's accuracy?
Informal plinking it shot to "minute of Coke can" anywhere from 5 to 20 or so paces.
Has any parts rusted?
Friend who owns it hasn't reported any, just typical holster wear.
Would you buy another or recommend it to a friend?
Like I said, I don't own one. Based on the few mags I ran thru that one, and what the owner and other friends have said of theirs I'd definetly consider one over several other pistols.
Is it better or worse than a Glock?
I prefer the XD's trigger feel and grip angle, and I'm a former Glock owner. If the new finish that debuted on the XD45s last year is holding up as well I've read on here that's yet another plus. Better is a matter of personal taste, but I prefer the XD based on my limited experience.

Couldn't really fit my thoughts inside you poll options.

Fired the XD9 and XD45. Both consistently accurate for me, decent sights, and good ergonomics. Seems to sit a little high (subjective) but recoil was manageable out of both, especially the XD9. Didn't like the trigger because it's too long of a pull. Service is too large for me to carry, subcompact was too small. Went with a Glock 19 instead, but wouldn't sneeze at an XD if you gave me one.

Mine rusted in about a month (and yes, I kept it clean). Never had that happen to sig, Glock, HK, Ed Brown (Gen III finish). I know I live in Oregon, but if none of the others have the problem...Annoyed me.

At least the sharp stick won't rust.

Okay, I give up. My XD45 has been 100% reliable.

How well made is it?
EXCELLENT

How does it shoot?
EXCELLENT

How reliable is it?
100%

How is it's accuracy?
EXCELLENT

Has any parts rusted?
NOPE

Would you buy another or recommend it to a friend?
Of course I would, wouldn't you?

Is it better or worse than a Glock?
Not going there because they are two separate designs.

My new XD45 Compact is the one for me. I have owned Glock, Taurus, and Sig, but the "Two Guns in One" in 45 ACP does it all for me. Accurate, reliable, 45 Caliber, and with 13 or 10 round mag options. I had the Service model, but traded for the first Compact I handled.

Yep, this is the keeper.

My wife has an XD9, I've been drooling over the XD 45 ACP ever since it came out, today she came home and gave one to me :D.

The XD is my second favorite firearm, Sig P229 being the first.

It takes a lot of the good from the Sig, the good from the Glock, all with a fully supported chamber and more comfortable (for me) angle. Take down is almost as easy as the Sig.

Good gun for some, but not for others.

I've owned 3 - XD9s, 1-XD40 and 1-XD45, while they were pretty good guns I don't own them anymore. They just didn't fit my perceived needs at the time.

Now i've got Glocks and am happy.

XD .40

I like my .40 enough that it is my car gun. It shoots to POA, it feeds everything and it's easy to shoot well. I recommend it as a good gun to buy to the average person for all of the same reasons. Yea, I like my XD. :)

They are nice and reliable guns, I was just deciding a week or so ago and the XD was in my top 3 along with a berreta and a Glock 19. I now own a Glock 19 but if you go with the XD it will save you a little money and will still be a great gun.

I have the Tactical 9mm version. I feel like it flips more than my G34. I think, due mainly to its slide being too heavy. I don't know if S.A. made any effort on lightening the slide on the Tactical like Glock did on their 5 incher's.
Honestly, I like my G34 better. I also had one FTE since I owned the XD. The finish doesn't hold-up well too. I know the new ones had the Melonite finish now, though. I should have waited a bit more, before buying...oh, well...
The only thing I can really appreciate with the XD is its grip angle. I shoot mainly 1911's and the XD just points almost similar to the 1911's.

Right now, I'm liking the M&P. If S&W comes out with a 5" M&P, I'm selling my XD for sure.

I have a subcompact 9, had a service 9, and now have a compact 45.

they are all awesome. I think they are the perfect semi for me. Glocks feel sooooo unweildy in my hand, I'd never own one.

XD

I have an XD 40 4" service model that has been absolutely flawless through 1500 rounds. This gun is very accurate, I can make one ragged hole with 20 rounds from 20 yards.:D I've had no problems with rust, mine is a house gun, not a field gun. I feel that this pistol is extremely well made, the way it fits my hand and the ergonomics, nothing else can come close to matching. I would definitely buy another one and I would definitely recommend it to others.

I've seen 2 xd9's break in the same fashion & later a xd40 break but the main thing that has turned me away from the XD is that from unit to unit triggers are diff't. Some are short & crisp, some are mushy & vague, some are long & heavy and I've experienced them w/ XDs. I know when I pick up a Glock or an HK what the Glock will be like.

I've owned every caliber and size Glock to date and enjoyed them all. Glocks will go boom everytime you pull the trigger. I now own an XD9 service and I prefer it to the Glocks. The grip fits my hand more comfortably and I love the grip safety and so far, it too has gone boom every time I pulled the trigger. NO FTF or FTE to date. I can't say anything about the HK side of things due to the fact that I've never had one. I plan on buying an HK usp sometime but it just hasn't worked out yet. Anyway, If you get an XD you'll be happy with it.
