Re-purposed items on the reloading bench?

I use tons of prescription bottles in the reloading room and elsewhere. One of my favorite uses for them is actually as a mini-tackle box for fishing.

I also have a drop tube made from a curtain rod, a funnel, and gorilla tape. It works great for heavily compressed load without crunching powder when seating.

Hmmmmm, I'd like to see this!
Send a picture, I'm sure someone would be able to use it.
Sounds very interesting.

Looks like you use to watch MacGyver..!
It was one of my favorite TV shows back when.
If he only had Gorilla Tape......:).

I actually stole the idea from someone. If I can find my camera, I'll post a picture. The Gorilla tape basically takes up room to make it fit tight into the bottom of the funnel. (Lee funnel, btw.)

My wife used to throw away the empty cans of General Foods' cutesy instant drinks (Suisse Mocha, etc). They're about 4"L X 2"W X 3"H with snap top plastic lids. I use them for all kinds of sorted small parts, bolts, screws, nails, etc.

Also, if you can, "requisition" the kitchen blender and toaster cloth covers. They fit great over my powder measure and single stage press.

I got tired of getting blisters when using the Lee stud cutter while trimming brass. So I took the sleeve off the handle of a pair of broken pliers and slipped it over the end of the handle of the cutter stud, no more blisters!

I managed to break the primer catcher piece that snaps onto the press, like I didn't see that coming eventually. So what I did was cut the bottom portion of a large plastic soda bottle off, then I heated up a piece of re-bar till it was red, then held the bottle up close to it and molded it to fit perfectly on my Rock Chucker. The best part is it catches almost every single one, I made it tall enough on the outside, kind of a shield design, which prevents them from popping over the top, much better than the original design. It also fits up against the ram and doesn't get pushed away or get in the way.

I also use coffee cans to store brass in, but just about everyone does that.

And apparently my wife hasn't noticed the resemblance between some of my brass containers, and her missing large tupper ware type containers?:uhoh:

Unfortunately, I have the really, really big pill bottles, as well as the smaller one's. I have some filled with fertilizer, but they work great for this, and that.

I've also put some to use to hold scope rings, bases, and other hardware, then I label them with the specifics.

Same thing with my archery stuff, much of it will fit in those big pill bottles.

^ Now that's using the ol' noodle! It's low profile, don't have to reach down, into a container. I like.

For processed cases, tumbled, sized and decapped, primed, awaiting powder and bullet I use the plastic 'box' that cold cuts come in at Sam's Club with a fairly tight-fitting lid. These rectangular, stackable, clear containers hold 600 9mm & 40 S&W cases. A slip of paper with the details of processes performed on the cases, as well as primers used keeps me straight on what is contained within the box. I use these for 223 also but don't count the cases, just fill the containers. Warning- don't stack over 3 high, the bottom one will give way on you slightly! :what:

Old colander gets used for sifting brass from media
Older Plano boxes get used to hold cleaning brushes and jags by bore size
Aluminum cookie and/or steam table trays hold shotgun press for the inevitable powder/shot spill
Old dental tools get used for cleaning the equipment in tight places
Old canvas shot bags hold brass - one for dirty/unprimed, one for clean/reprimed for each cartridge
I'm sure I have others

Pet feeders from Walmart.

I like this...When I was loading a bunch of shot shell buck loads, I had one of the pet feeders I put fiber & felt wads in..Worked great.
Also used it for plated bullets, lubed bullets liked to get stuck some in them.
But thats the way it goes with lubed lead bullets. ;)

I use to have a few of the old MEC red metal hull and wad dispensers, but sold them to a friend and fellow reloader for a nice sum...:D
He wanted them way more than I did...they are hard to find these days.

I think this is all that is available these days for hulls and wads?
