I own several Mossberg shotguns and put Limbsaver recoil pads on all of them.
These recoil pad have to be used first hand to be fully appreciated!
The reduction in felt recoil is simply AMAZING!:)

Buy a 20 gauge. :D

BTW, did you need to kill someone after Ike or something? Just wondering. I hear all this excuse to own a gun due to hurricanes. I've gone through several and never needed a gun, far from it. Of course, I don't live in the fifth ward. But, I mean, Carla made Ike look like a west Texas dust devil. But, then, anyone that stayed here during Carla had a good chance of being dead.

No the family and I did a evac to Oklahoma where we pretty much played golf.

To hot to stay in Houston. It took two weeks just to get the power on and a little longer for the cable system. Kids can be a pain in a situation like that so we actually did a mini vacation ("Okla Right"). Fun was had by all.

When we came back home ( lived on a golf course in a reasonable neighborhood ) some BGs ( 2 guys and a girl ) had taken a U-haul and loaded up $86,000 worth of home fixtures down to the wife's and kids' underwear! Never recovered our belongings and one of the BGs is/was already back in jail for something else. Kids golf clubs and a grinder were found at his rental house. Seems like this individual had a rather lengthy history of doing all kinds of bad things even to his own sister and brother in law.

Police are good at filling out paperwork but I am not impressed at their workmanship or investigation abilities.

I only had about 10 guns which I either grew up with or brought back from over seas.

We were not the only house broken into; 4 other houses were also cleaned out within a sand wedge shot of my premises.

Not that I have ever had to use a HD weapon; There have been a few times I have had to get up and arm myself only because I did not know what was going on an felt it was the prudent thing to do. Also playing golf with a few cops and hearing some of their stories about happenings around town reinforced my opinion that as head of the household I should be able to protect my family. Kinda my mind set for I grew up in Texas.

Basically there were rumors of home invasions and of roving bands of bad guys that were mostly due to news paper and neighborhood paranoia but not in all cases. A shot gun was cheap HD and I know how to blow big holes in stuff with one.

Well, next time you run from a 'cane, be sure and take the shotgun so the BGs don't rip it off, too. :D I've had my home broke in to and ripped off when I was at work. They left the TV, the stereo, all that, just took guns. It's a bummer.

Houston is a great reason to get a CCW, BTW. I HATE that town, despise that town, cannot STAND that town, it SUX! :D If you wanna know why, drive 59 in from Sugar Land at about 7:30AM or out of town around 4:30 PM sometime. The crime there don't help my opinion of the place, either. :D

Oh, on a constructive note, I use a 20 gauge coach gun for a home defense shotgun, backed up by whatever handgun I've carried that day. Even slugs are easy on the shoulder with it. The 12s, buckshot kicks considerably less than slugs. At close ranges, 00 bucks is pretty devastating on human targets. I mean, I wouldn't actually hunt deer with it, but heck, I load up with 3 buck in the 20 and think it's plenty effective.
