I have a Mossberg Maverick 88 shot gun. Im trying to buy some some accessories for it, but I can't seem to find a Pistol Forearm for it. So I did a little bit of searching and think I found out why.

(A Mossy 500 has a steel tube under the plastic or wood forearm that the forearm slides down onto and is then screwed in place on. The Maverick doesn't have that tube so Mossy 500 forearms won't fit. To get around that, though, all you have to do is replace the Mav forearm with a Mossy steel tube (about $12 off gunbroker.com) and then all 500 forearms will fit it.)

Does anyone know if this is true? and where I can find/buy the part I need so Mossberg 500 forearms will fit my Maverick 88

Thanks Jerry

Yeppers, Jerry. That was one of my posts. I'm that Richard.

That's the part you'll need. It's missing the nut that should be on the top left end, but you get the idea. They show up on gunbroker all the time....used to on Ebay, too. They usually go in the $15 neighborhood so don't rush to buy that one.

That part is what a Mossberg 500 wooden forearm slides onto. The Mav 88 slide bars are attached directly to the forearm thus the tube is omitted. Look closely at your Mav forearm and you'll see what I mean.

If you put that part onto your Mav, and it only takes like five mins to do, you can then use any and all after market Mossberg 500 forearms. That tube also has a flat stabilizing spring on the action bars that keep the bars more snug on the 500. If your Mav forearm ever gets too loose for you, and that won't effect the working, just the comfort, you can replace yours with that tube and it'll fix it.

If you need anything else, please feel free to ask!

Richard
