My Rem 1100 does not like the light loads that I use for Crow hunting.
So I would like to use my 870 with a 28" vent ribbed barrel.
The trouble is I have put an XS Ghost Ring sight set on my Remington 870 - which I REALLY like - but the rear sight sits would sit way high above the front bead of the bird barrel.
I do not think it is a good idea to repeatedly remove/install the rear sight base every time I swap barrels.
From the bottom of my 870 20 inch slug barrel to the top of the front sight is 1.562 inches. With the rear ghost ring sight set at the middle of the adjustment range the point of impact is 2 inch high at 50yrds.
The bottom of the 28 inch bird barrel to the top of the vent rib is 1.050 inches - so I need a sight that’s approximately .5 inches tall.
I looked in Midway, Brownells and XS Sights Systems but none seem to list front sight heights.
Is there a front sight available that I could put on the rib that would work with the rear ghost ring sight?
Has anyone dealt with this before?
Thanks,
David
