Has anyone tried the "oneraggedhole" rear sight blade on a Marlin 39A. My eyes are get'n old and I refuse to put a scope on a classic like the 39A.

I haven't tried that one...

But I just put a Skinner on my rifle and it is Great!

I highly recommend them.

I think their site is skinnersights.com

Good Luck

This sight is mounted on the bbl. That works best with my eyesight.

I tried a bbl mounted peep once, but did not have good luck with it.

Or with his brass model which matches the gold trigger. I replaced the .096 aperture with a .050 for more precise shooting. Works great, even with my old eyes. :)

Cityslicker,

Go search for the Marlin 39A Club thread. There's a ton of advice there on all things M39A.

Have you tried a tang mounted peep sight? Classic good looks and as long as you're looking through the peephole you can't miss.

Got the brass Skinner on my 39A...looks just like EAJ so I won't post a pic. He'll do custom apertures for you if you want a couple different ones.

I think I picked the best .22 for my first rifle!

My recommendation is for a receiver-mounted Williams 5D or Foolproof receiver ("peep") sight. The Lyman equivalent works as well. I don't want a scope detracting from the intrinsic handling qualities of my 39 and I appreciate the quick and sharp sight picture I get with a good receiver sight for my 65 year old eyes.
