I have a nice Case Trapper in Amber bone that I carry as a backpocket knife. I find that it is too thick and would like to have the Spey blade taken out. Is there anybody who will do this at a reasonable cost.

I have also thought of getting a Yellow Peanut in CV and one in Amber bone which is SS and having the blades swapped so I can have a nice set of Peanut, Canoe and Trapper in Amber Bone and CV.

Case "Barehead" Slimline Trapper

Brian, have you considered just getting a "Barehead" Slimline Trapper?

It's the Trapper with just the clip point blade. Very light, very slender.

Probably cost less than the work needed to remove a blade from a standard Trapper.

I had one of the Barehead Trappers until recently -- gave it as a gift -- and I think it's probably just what you're looking for.

Here's one.
Here's another.

Also, for a few dollars more, available in Red Bone.

Both of these knives are in CV steel.

However, I haven't seen the Barehead/Slimline Trapper in amber bone yet.

I have a couple of single blade trappers from Schrade/Old Timer and this full sized trapper would be a nice full sized single blade, I really have no need for a spey blade. I also have in mind getting a couple of Yellow delrin as a set that would be similar.

Define "reasonable".

The labor will probably exceed the new value of the knife considering the care needed to remove the pens from a finished knife and reset them after pulling the blade you don't want.

You can contact Case or Buck and ask about customization.

HSO is right. It requires a careful disassemble and very careful rebuild. I would charge more than a new knife would cost. Someone emailed me last week about adding a SS Damascus blade to 160.00 knife. He didn't like the 300.00 cost.
