Like any other good carry gun, the gun itself is only half the equation - the other half being a quality piece of leather to place it in. As for P7s, I would recommend:

Matt del Fatti
Mitch Rosen
TTGunleather
Kydex
Uncle Mike
Safariland
Bianchi

The list goes on and on ..... like Jon mentioned, the P7 is a very thin gun and carries very well on the hip with a quality holster.

Just a matter of time .......

(Although I recently got rid of my last .40SW, which was a sweet-shooting Sig P229. I thought I was done with that caliber, but if a sweet deal on a M10 were to arise ............)

Lone Gunman, you act like I would be settling for something but I don't agree. You said the P7 was too heavy in the handle and too short barreled and that may be the case for your body type and it isn't going to sit as deeply in the waist like a 1911 would. A weapon with a longer barrel like a 1911 or a HP, guns I have also carried, aer very forgiving of the leather you can use. The shorter barreled weapons are much less forgiving of not having a proper holster. I learned with my M&P that regular holsters that worked well with some weapons were abysmal with my M&P. Check my thread on the Peters Custom Holsters. With shorter barreled weapons you need a holster with outboard attachments that stabilize the weapon on your belt. A Comptac CTAC or Peters holster will help it a lot. I wouldn't try to carry it in a holster with one clip or or belt loops on the centerline of the holster as it would do just as you say. You can drop a 1911 in your waistband and it will carry comfortably. Shorter barreled weapons like the P7, Glock 26, M&P Compact just aren't that easy. The P7 is much slimmer than my M&P and while it does carry more weight in the grip (debatable without 8 rounds vs 12 in the magazine) its slimmer profile will let it sit with its centerline closer to my body so I think it has the advantage there.
Or did you mean I'm willing to accept better accuracy? Better shootability? If it beats my M&P in those regards than I'll do what I have to do to carry it comfortably. Getting fast, reliable hits is my first priority and so far the P7 is a beast in that regard. I have yet to do some extended shooting with it but I ordered two more mags last night and I'm trying to get ahold of Greg Peters to make a holster for it. I'll keep you guys informed what I find out about the P7.
LG if your right, I'll be the FIRST one to tell you that your right. But I'm not going to be prejudiced my one mans opinion. Not that I don't respect it as I certainly do but I'm stubborn that way.

Bender, thanks for the holster suggestions. I'm going to try Greg Peters first. I really love the holster he made for my M&P. I still have his holster for my 1911 but I have no 1911! If one of you guys wants it you are welcome to it.

My M&P Compact doesn't point awkward for me or heat up horribly after firing a few mags. Nor dies it feel heavy and clunky.

I think it a much better and even safer gun than the P7.

Even the German Police have dropped the P7 and went to more
modern and safer designs after years of accidents with the PSP/P7M8.

Of which only a few states ever issued them. They were not
the universal German cop gun like some people would like you to believe.

Jon: I might be picking up a 5" SA TRP 1911 in the near future and might be interested in your holster if you're serious.

As for the P7s, they do heat up A LOT! The M8 is not so bad as the "PSP" due to the heat shield. I can normally shoot close to 100 rounds before I'm burning my fingers. If I'm in a "gunfight" for that long, I've got bigger problems to think about, and even a 19 round XDm isn't going to help me.

P.S.
Nor dies it feel heavy and clunky.
Sorry, but I can't leave this one alone. Heavy and clunky? Hmmm, but any 1911 or 75B or 97 or RAMI or almost any other CZ product feels what? Lightweight and feathery? Please. Glocks and HKs get a bad rap for being Tupperware and now all steel guns get a bad rap for being heavy and clunky? As for a M&P being safer than a squeeze cocker weapon? Again, as much as I respect the entire line of CZ and S&W weapons, I can't think of one safer to CCW than a P7. Just my 2 cents.

I agree. I didn't notice any heating up but then I only fired what you saw in the video I posted and it was damned cold outside. When I get my mags for it I'm going to throw 100 rounds down range and see what happens.
If your 1911 doesn't have a rail this holster should fit it nicely. PM your address to me and I'll mail it off to you. Merry Christmas!

+1 on the M&P CZF. My M&P is a fantastic weapon. The bar is set really high if the P7 is going to outperform it in my hands. I have to really do some shooting with it before I make that decision. My M&P 9C has been my trusted companion for some time now.

I received an email from CDNN today with this listing in it. I would jump on this one guys.

HK P7PSP · 9mm · Plum Slide · 1-8rd Mag · Box ·
Like New Condition
#HKPA $499.99

Yep, I got the same e-mail last night and thought the same thing. If I didn't have a P7PSP already, I would be all over that.

I wonder if it is a typo though. The Plum slide one I bought was 599. Still a great deal though. I see a lot of the supposedly A rated P7s selling for 700+ and they say it has scratches or holster wear. Mine was 599 and it was practically new with NO scratches and NO holster wear.

I have been looking HARD at one here locally. It's used (but perfect), all blued with 4 magazines, all original box/papers, for like $1100, and I think it's an M8 iirc.

Is that a good deal? I'm a poor college student who just bought his first "expensive," $600+, handgun (Sig 228 with Lasergrips)...but I think some student loan money would be well spent here... :)

I went to the range today and rapped off another 100 rounds with my PSP. I had to do it with one magazine since I haven't gotten any new ones yet but still the shooting went great. The PSP is a ridiculously accurate weapon. I'm sure the only factor limiting this weapon is my ability to shoot. It is still 100% reliable. The only drawback is the gas system does make the chamber and mags pretty dirty but it runs fine. I fired the 100 rds pretty quickly to see how hot it got and while it did get pretty warm it was no where close to hot enough to cause any discomfort. The PSP is a great shooter and I really like the squeeze cocker. It is very safe to handle while still having a good SA trigger. The trigger is remarkably similar to the Glocks trigger in my opinion. I have heard some rumblings about keeping the trigger cocked and walking around with a hair trigger but that is just not the case. If you practice prudent gun handling and keep you finger off the trigger like you are supposed to you will be fine. Otherwise I would consider it no less safe than a Glock when the cocker is depressed. When you release the cocker you have an even safer weapon. I really like this weapon. The only criticism I have of it is that I would prefer slightly taller sights. I am spoiled by the Ameriglo night sights on my M&P.

Jon, you must have calloused hands or I have baby hands. I normally have to call it quits after 100 rounds.
The P7M8 has a nice heatshield over the trigger that helps with heat protection - I'm shopping for my second one as we speak. Unfortunately, they cost almost double the PSP.
I'm looking for one in good mechanical shape but ugly in the looks department. Love to send it out to be hard chromed, throw some night sights on it (ToolTech), and then finally, some nice wood Nill grips.
Don't know if you've seen one like this, but they really do clean up nice.

Nope. I quit any manual labor over 13 years ago. I have soft hands like a chick now. Sometimes I wish I did have calloused hands. Hard work is good for the soul. So is shooting my PSP!!

I'll amend that last post. I shot about another 80 rounds this weekend and now that I have three mags it seriously did get warm by the time I was done. The top of the trigger guard and the trigger were getting pretty hot on my finger when I fired the last mag.
