Ok, here is what I've got. A Remington 700 Varmint in 308 with the synthetic stock. I was having scope problems with it and was doing a lot of figuring out what was wrong. After 4 days of testing, I had hurt the bursa in my shoulder. I'll admit, it was my fault. I wasn't holding the gun right, leaning too far forward shooting off a shaky card table. Weather was nasty and I'd run out the door, fire four 3 shot groups and come back into the house. I was shooting off a card table and wasn't holding the gun right. Anyway, after a month of pain I went to my doctor, who is a hunter. He told me I need to put some sort of recoil pad on the gun to prevent this, but improper holding of the gun won't stop my problem. Since I already have a slight problem with this shoulder, he made the comment that maybe I should stop shooting it. I don't want to do that. Do the ready made recoil pads that screw on to this model really that much better? And if so,what would be a good one?
