I was wondering if theres any type of recoil pad made that can be used on a J frame revolver to cover up the back strap,to cushion the recoil? I ask as I know theres such a type of product that glock owners sometimes use but have never seen anything like for a small revolver. I was thinking one could cover up the exposed backstrap on a lightweight j frame yest still have the concealment offered by the factory bot grips.

I use the Crimson Trace LG-405 on my 642. The laser is great and has a recoil pad. Best of all, it doesn't affect the dimensions of the j frame with the stock grip.

For a small gun when used at the range, a fingerless, padded glove (such as sold by Cabelas) works great. Not helpful for concealed carry, of course.

There are several after market grips for the J frame which cover the backstrap. Pachmyr and Uncle Mike's are two. search for something that fits your bill.
