What's a good recoil pad for a Winchester 94 Trapper carbine. I have one in .44 mag that is tame with the .44 sp loads, but a bit sharp with .44 mag loads.

Is a recoil pad something that needs to be fitted to the stock or can I get a prefit pad and screw it on?

Thanks.

Pachmeyer makes one. but you'll have to trim it to fit. the Ranger and the .44 are the only models it doesn't fit if i remember correctly. i do believe that Limbsaver makes on too. i'd like to get one for my Ranger since i like to plink with it.

I agree that the limbsaver slip-on is the best for old-style guns like the Winchester or a coach shotgun. You can put the pad on to shoot and then take it off so you don't alter the original look.
