Not long ago I picked up a minty, late model (tang safety) 94 AE. I'm thrilled with the purchase but the LOP is - like my pre-64 - a tad short for me. I was wondering if anyone knew of a good recoil pad for the late model 94 AE's they liked. I'd prefer not to have to grind fit but I know I probably will. I have a slip-on pad on it at the moment, but I hate slip-on pads. It's on there just to see if that was the LOP I needed, and it is.

Thanks!

I hope you have better luck with your 94 than I did with my Marlin 336W. I bought two different pre-fit pads for it and they were a joke concerning fit. I then did some research and found none of the pre-fit pads work on a 336. So I wound up having a grind to fit pad installed.

Id suggest either fitting one or having one fitted. Fitting will cost you 20-50 bucks more than a prefit, or slip on, but a well fitted pad is worth the extra cost.
I cant stand slip on pads, id rather fit a rubber slipper to a butt stock than use a slip on.

I suppose you're right. I just thought there may be a chance someone had found one that fits pretty well, although I doubt that many people are putting recoil pads on their '94's. At 6'4" I just need the extra LOP. The recoil reduction isn't an issue. It's a good looking rifle so I want the pad to be a clean factory look if at all possible.

Sometimes the prefits will be pretty close, but In my experience they are almost always undersized, oversized, or lop sided, especially on wood stocked guns.
Some folks are fine with it, but for some reason to me a poorly fitted recoil pad is about as "Bubba" as it gets.
