Recoil pads

Slip on? Why slip on? I'd just as much rather buy a normal recoil pad, unscrew the old (shorter) one and screw in the new (longer) one. Besides, it would look more original that way.

If these guys don't have anything you're looking for ever, then it's probably not sold.

I put a remington limbsaver on my 870 prior to taking a shotgun course. I was also offered a shoulder pad by the instructors and took one. However, I took it off and felt more comfortable without it. Didn't do too bad with the shoulder.

Limbsaver or Pachmayr

Use Slick-Eez to prevent unwanted hanging up on clothes. Works like a champ.

However, a slip-on will totally mess up the LOP of a gun that fits you. I'd only use it for one of two things: temporarily lengthening a gun that's too short for you, or sighting in a high-recoil rifle from the bench.

The Limbsaver is definitely thick. I simply removed the butt plate on my 500 to reduce the effect. Still a little longer though.

If you want some SERIOUS recoil reduction, check out Knoxx Industries.

I like the Limbsavers. I don't know that I will ever buy anything else. Not that others aren't as good or better, but these work well enough, so no reason to change.

My 1100 came with a Pachmayer. It is thin but it works very well, and it's only a 20 gauge anyway.

FWIW, when I put a Hogue Overmolded stock on my 870, it came with a Hogue recoil pad, and I've found it is really nice. It's so soft, I imagine the material will get torn up over time, but it can be replaced.
