I have a 7mm Rem Mag and i know the kick isn't that bad but i would like to tame it enough to make it comfortabul for my wife to shoot it.

Ihave read about the Edwards Recoil Reducers and i was wondering if they really made a difference. ANd if so how would you install one in a composit stock? Would it be benificial to use two? Dose anyone have pictures?

I also plan on puting on a Limb saver recoil pad.

And i ave seen these on shotguns, But would one be practical on a rifle?

Why not download the ammunition to a lighter load? If you don't handload, this is a good application for it.

Why not another rifle in a lessor caliber?
Would be a lot easier on the wife...
Hunting or target shooting, there's plenty of small caliber rifles that get the job done with little recoil.
Plus you'll get to go new gun shopping! Always a good thing.

LOL i would do that but she gets pissy at the idea of me buying another gun so soon after we just had our first kid( he is 2 months old today)
But odley she is not opposed to the idea of me spending money on this one to make the recoil a bit more managabul. I supose she has a point seeings that i would probably spend around 200 on this gun as opposed to the 700 or 800 i would spend on a new rifle.
And im sure i would have to convince her that getting the bolt Jeweld and spiral fluted would help in reducing the recoil :)

magnaport and a good kickeze or limbsaver pad. the only way your wife will tolerate shooting it.

I would recommend not porting it.

Most folks find the terrific muzzle blast increase from porting far worse then the recoil.

Yeah Im not a fan of porting the barrel or of the muzzel breaks. I dont like the extram increase in sound level.

This is off subject but dose anyone have a picture of a Bolt that is Jeweld and then spiral fluted? I saw one once but I would really like to have an example when I take my bolt to a Smith.

A. Make the rifle heavier.
B. Use a lighter bullet.
C. Use a faster powder.
D. Reduced loads, I like SR 4759*.
E. Big, fat Decellerator buttpad. (May make LOP too long.)
F. A good shooting jacket.

BUT.....
This the perfect time to buy a nice little 7mm-08!;)

7mm Remington Magnum (150 Rem. 150 Gr.) (SR 4759, 35gr.) 2420 fps
7mm Remington Magnum (175 Rem. 175 Gr.) (SR 4759, 34gr.) 2220 fps

We use the PAST pads and find them very good. It does change the mounting to the shoulder a little bit but when firing, it helps.

If someone was breaking in, we wont have time for the pads; that would be the least of our worries. With that in mind we use reduced recoil ammuntion for the spouse. She can always empty tube and reload.

Dont be afraid of the reduced recoil ammo. It's not that bad. In fact, it's helpful for you to settle the gun back onto target for the next shot much faster than the full loads.

I fire full loads and stagger about wondering if I hit the thing or not (Usually do) and it takes time to resettle the weapon. Time you may not have in a HD situation as they usually rush the gun but avoid the knife as it were.

i agree with not porting the barrel,,,,way to much noise,,,,eargaspliten loudenboomer

as for the recoil,,,try one of the slip on shooters friend pads that Cabela's have,,,they really work well ,,and i think they are in the $20 range
