For 9mm I love the HK VP9. Nothing against the beretta just no exp with that. For a rimfire, +1 on the Browning buckmark. I have a buckmark camper I bought new 17 years ago and it still shoots great. For that matter my companion gun the buckmark is the Browning BDM 9mm, hard to come by these days though.

If you like to tinker with your guns look at the Ruger Charger. It was made to be a range plinker & all the 10/22 parts work on it

I'm sorry, I meant to chime in a long time ago and recommend the Glock 17L - with an Apex or Skimmer trigger kit - or whatever the "Best Glock Trigger" du jour is.

I love mine for punching paper

I picked up a Ruger LC9S PRO 9MM this summer just because I didn't yet own a 9mm or a small pocket pistol. Holds 7 in the mag and one in the chamber. I really like it,points well and feels good in my hand. I've put about 200 rounds threw it so far without a hiccup, and will shoot about a 2 inch group at the 7 yard target. hdbiker
