I have a hankering for a plinking pistol. Some days, I want to go to the range and not worry about picking up the brass. So, a .22LR pistol looks appealing. I have owned a GSG/Sig 1911 and a Buckmark, but my first firearm purchase was a Beretta 92 that I occasionally miss. I am wondering how the trigger of the .22 compares to the 9mm. The Beretta was made for my hand, and apparently no one else's, but I don't want to get the 22 version and wish I had gone a different direction, and no shop around has the .22 for me to check out. Owners of both? TIA

TLDR Is the trigger on the Beretta 92 .22 comparable to the 9mm?

I have the 92 conversion kit so there was no relearning the trigger pull. I've run multiple types of 22 ammo thru mine and as far as I can remember no ftf, fte. Mags are a bit tough to load though.

The numerous owners on the Beretta Forum appear to be unanimously pleased with the performance of their 92/M9 .22 pistols, but several have noted that neither the trigger nor anything else is the same quality as that of the actual 92. Not really surprising, as the .22 version is not manufactured by Beretta. It’s built by Umarex, like most (or all) currently produced .22 versions of service pistols.

If funds permit, consider buying an actual 92 variant and then locating one of the Umarex-produced .22 LR conversion kits. The kits were introduced a couple of years ago, but it sounds like they’re a little hard to find at the moment. (There also exist Beretta-made conversion kits from many years ago, but these are rare and pricey.)

I have a Beretta M9-22, and I really like it. It doesn't feel like some of the other 22 copies of things, and has very much the same heft and balance of a M9/92FS in your hand. The trigger feels just like the 9mm guns I have. Shoots great too.

I looked into the Beretta M9A1 22 for my son. It seemed reliable, but accuarcy did not seem to match a Buckmark. I watched a lot of Youtube reviews... Most people shot steel, but of the reviews using paper targets, I was not impressed with the grouo sizes. Yes, they could be terrible shots - who knows.....

I also asked for opinions at the Beretta Forum. But, in the end, I got him a Buckmark to teach him to shoot handguns. I had a Buckmark a decade ago, and I liked it.

He seems to like it too. I replaced the black front sight with a fiber optic one.

I didn't want him to lose interest if the gun wasn't capable of good accuracy.

Realize most 22 versions of combat guns are not usually made by the main company. Someone else makes the gun for them...
