...moving this over from a different thread: I have a cheeep Chinese Scout Rifle scope that's not very good and is in need of replacing. Can anyone recommend a decent, low to mid range Scout Rifle (long eye relief) scope?

I used a Weaver 2x pistol scope for a while, and it had short enough eye relief to function as an IER optic on a rifle that had the optic rail pretty far forward on the forearm. The Weaver 2.5-8x pistol scope did not; it was solely an arms-length pistol scope. That has proven true for all of the other pistol scopes that I've tried.

The Vortex Crossfire 2-7x IER scope has a really unforgiving eyebox and I am not a fan.

I thought that the Burris 2.75x IER optic was OK. I have not tried the Burris 2-7x IER scope.

The Leupold 2.5x and 1.5-4x seemed to me to be pretty much as good as it gets. Of all of the IER optics that I've tried, I only still have the Leupold variable. The Leupold offerings are the only IER scopes that provide eye relief as close as 6"-7", which is useful if you have a short-receiver'ed scout setup.

I would love a reasonable quality 2-7x IER that supported eye relief as close as 7", but I can't seem to find one.

Better than cheap, but still not $200+?

I think that puts you into the Vortex 2-7x32 or the Leatherwood 2-7x32 scout scopes.

Otherwise, maybe a Labor Day sale is coming that will bring a Burris, Weaver, or Leupold in your price range.

I only have experience with a fixed power Burris and a fixed power Weaver*. Both bought on sales for right at $180 a piece. Also, both are lighter and shorter than a variable scope, plus they have a focusable eyepiece which the fixed power Leupold Scout does not have.

Note: The Weaver 4x28 scout is not a 14 ounce scope like some websites show. It is a 7 ounce scope. Look at post #11 in this thread.

I like the idea of a variable and these two linked ones are in a good price range for me. Thanks for the info chicharrones. rbernie, thanks for the reply; the Burris 2-7x32 is $400, so out of range for me for my Scout Rifle. I appreciate the help, guys!
