Just picked it up today. $1389 for a NIB gun (AG date code) with factory night sights. Most I have ever spent on a gun, period.

Looking for opinions on (1) IWB; and (2) vertical shoulder holster for said P7M8.

I normally buy Kramer Leather (horsehide). I have five Kramer holsters, two belts and two mag pouches, so I am no rookie to their product lineup. I have noticed some distressing changes in their pocket holsters as of late and I'm not sure that Kramer is such a good buy any more given the new ownership (?). So while I would normally have no qualms about shelling out the dough for a Kramer 1 1/2 IWB, I want to see what other people are using for their P7M8s.

I have read multiple threads on Park City Tactical (nice gallery of holsters here that they prefer Alessi, Del Fatti and Sparks holsters. Well, they all look very nice but the wait time on a Del Fatti is 18 months and I think Sparks is probably around the same time delay. I would, however, like to hear from owners of holsters by these gentlemen ... if it's worth the wait, I have no issue with plunking down the cash.

Oh, and regarding the shoulder holster. Yes, it is for a tuxedo. Yes, I own my tuxedo (at my old job we had 1+ black tie events per year). As you tux owners know, you do not wear a belt with a tux so you are very limited as to choices for carry. I don't like the Kramer horizontal shoulder holster as I'd rather not sweep everybody with my muzzle so vertical it is.

Thanks for any recommendations!

Justin

I have a P7M8 and after an extensive search for the ideal holster I ented up with a Milt Sparks VMII. I highly recommend the VMII.

Nice grab but careful they're addictive. ;) For leathr...don't skimp! You certainly didn't skimp on the gun so don't do so on the leather and use a cheap, low quality rig. Head to Pack Cities tactical and see what the rest of the cult is using - I do believe DelFatti is favored and with very good reason.

My kingdom for a P7m8; I just can't seem to bring myself to justify the cost however, despite my best efforts to convice myself otherwise. I go through periods where I obsess at selection, scheme of ways to pay, then painfully come to the conclusion the price isn't justified.

Sigh.

When can this doggone design come into the 1911 realm where others can make copies? Bah. Nevermind.

Try Fist, do a Google, they make all kinds of decent holsters for the P7M8! Probably not the quality of DelFatti or Sparks but a good working holster.:scrutiny:

Milt Sparks VMII, worth waiting for if you plan to carry.
P7M8 holsters require a special design because of the balance of the pistol. See how much of the gun's mass is sited behind the trigger of the gun compared with how little is in front of the trigger? Because there is so little mass in front of the trigger, most standard design holsters just don't grip enough "gun" to provide a secure hold on the P7.

A P7 holster almost has to be designed specifically for the P7 -I would bet that most custom holster makers don't get enough business to sit down and tinker-out a new design just for the P7, this is why there are so few holsters that are well-received by the P7 community.

For this gun, stick with what's recommended by the P7 Cultmembers.

When I had one, I carried it in a VM II by Sparks. To the poster above that wishes he had one; they aren't all that great. Accurate? Yes. Nevertheless, it seems over-priced.

Del Fatti's your man...

Del Fatti leather. The guy has some of the best holsters for p7s made:

Outside wasteband. Very stable:

Inside waistband, belt on top.

Outside waistband, quickrelease.

LPHTL model--low ride, very well engineered.

This is my Favorite, the BPB. The holster rides BETWEEN the belt and your pants' waistband. Note this is a left-side version.

Milt Rosen also makes nice holsters for p7s, But Del really has this one worked out.

Those Del Fatti's are very nice. He has so many IWBs it's making my head spin as to the difference between all of them!

Skunk, thanks for the offer but I am a dyed-in-the-wool leather man when it comes to concealment holsters. I don't mind Kydex or nylon if it's a competition rig but otherwise it must be leather.
