Recommend a new powder measure

I have two Lyman 55's one from the early 80's the other 2 years old and both are very good powder measures. They both meter consistently even 700X and are easy to use and built to last. The two things to remember is to keep your powder hopper more than half full and the other is to be consistent with powder knocker . Get into a rhythm,do every step the same and you will have very consistent powder throws.

Trying to drop 7.0 grains of HS-6, it would drop from one to a dozen or more loads that were right on, and then all of a sudden, drop an 8 to 9 grain load.
Weird indeed, HS-6 should meter great. Gotta be some crud (maybe oil?), in there somewhere.

Some people put a 1-2" piece of plastic straw...the McDonalds one fit perfectly in the past...in the end Chargemaster aluminum powder trickler tube. It didn't work much better for me...but it did reduce overthrows some.

I had similar problems as you mentioned. I took the straw trick one step further. I inserted a plastic tube inside the straw. For the tube, I cut a section out of a cheap Bic ink pen - it was a tight press fit. Reducing the inside diameter of the drop tube in this fashion limits how much powder can drop for each rotation, so it takes a little longer to drop each charge. However, it has reduced the overthrows to almost nothing.

I have already taken the measure apart and cleaned it – didn’t help. I also had this problem with 700X.
I have found that humidity in the reloading room(closet) has some effect on Power Pistol. After a question here and getting it to work correctly, I found on a separate occasion that it would fluctuate several tenths of a grain. Then, in a separate session, would be spot on for many cycles. The basement is usually temperature stable. But the rain, apparently, raised the humidity. This is only a theory. I have a humidistat on order to test this statement.
