Recommend a S&W 357 mag snub nose

Can't speak for anyone else, but I like to shoot magnums in my magnums and specials in my specials. I also understand people who like to shoot both from the magnum. Just not sure I can understand, from a strictly utilitarian standpoint, why someone would buy a magnum snub if they didn't think they were suitable for use with magnum ammunition.

Stability under recoil and ease of ejection of spent brass. That wasn't that hard now, was it?

Must be something wrong with my .38 Special revolvers. None of them recoil excessively or cause any difficulty ejecting spent brass. Just lucky I guess.

I have lots if 357 brass on hand. That is one if the main reasons I want a 357. I can load up or down and keep the recoil down if I want to.
I see no reason to get a 38 special when I can customize my 357 how ever I like and have brass already on hand

Well 420, you might be particularly good, lucky or possibly unaware of the combat drill that 2" .38 ejector rods can be just a tad short for. If the brass doesn't fully clear with 1 hard rap with muzzle elevated you are somewhat hindered. If they barely clear they can be caught in the ejector star. No-one said you needed to experince this or pay it any note. The question was why some others do.

I'm trying to remember if I've even SEEN an M19 in 2 1/2" around here. Snubbies have been red hot sellers for awhile. Even going from 6" to 4" will bring a premium in my area. Of course, we pay an extra $100 & up for older S&W in Kalifornistan.
Now... a nice older blued J frame... those can be had if ya look hard enough.

Wasn't trying to make a case for .38 Special over .357 Magnum, just questioning why one poster would want .357 Mag snubbies for shooting exclusively .38 Special in. I happen to like shooting full power loads in my Magnum snubbies. Apparently rswartsell has a reason that makes sense to him, and that is good enough for me. Sorry for the de-rail.

When a post asks specifically for members to recommend a .357 snub, we share our experirences. That by definition is limited to what we have experience with. That doesn't guarantee availability for any location, nor predict the future.
We all use handguns according to our own needs and customs. The diversity is the basic reason for a "forum". If any recommendation here does not fit your specific availability, reason for use, or budget, or any other reason we expect you will reject our recommendations in favor of your own purpose. You are hardly diminished by being exposed to diverse experience, and I can profit by the point of view of another. There doesn't have to be anything "wrong" with any of several divergant viewpoints.
I will tell you with complete contentment that an SP101 may be the ticket for your complete happiness. For my purposes, I find several I like better.
