Looking for recommendations for a good optic for a CZ452 that should be in later this week :) My 'I made Chief' present to myself. Anyway, looking for a good scope under $300. Plan on shooting 100 yards, mostly bench.

I am not into hunting, much, so this would just be a target toy. Mostly because I am great with handguns (I can put 10 of 13 in a silhouette at 100 yards with my G21) but I am not so good with a rifle. I want to work on it, so I got a gun that should be able to deliver decent to good accuracy and I want a good scope to balance that.

Opinions from CZ owners would also be appreciated. The cost factor isn't really a huge deal. I just don't think what I am looking for will be over that price range. Besides, I just got my srb yearly installment and I didn't buy a new car so the wife won't say anything.

I'd recommend looking into the Swift scopes. I have a 6-18 on a .223 and I'm very happy with it. I've always thought it would make a great rimfire scope because they can focus down to 10 meters. I think for the money it's one of the best scopes I've ever bought.

keeping with those narrow parameters, say bench rest only 50 or 100 yds shooting on paper; " ... there can be only one!"(homage to Highlander)
Weaver, fixed power 36x. You will see the paper threading material, from the hole you just created...

Look at the Mueller APV. Grab it from Dennis at mizzoumule if you do. Crosshairs might be a bit thick if anything but it holds zero, adjustments repeatable, up to 14x which helps a ton to spot yourself when shooting, big and clear view, AO which gets your targets crisp and cin focus in the view from anywhere from 15yds to 130( farthest I have shot with mine so I can only comment on that.). You will find many fans of it and all of us had budgets half of yours. It makes my american a bit heavy for longer periods of offhand shooting. I never regret it though whenever I shoot a friends .22 rifle that they put a cheap walmart scope on because "it's a .22 after all".

You could after all buy the mueller apv for 125$ AND have enough left over to even buy a savage rimfire rifle with iron sights. ($160-190)

edit: you will find a ton of cz owners on rimfirecentral if you ever want feedback on something.

I put a burris 4.5-14 with a AO on my 452 in 17 HMR. it's not a bad little scope... calrity at the higher magnification isn't all that great, but I like the AO feature, and at 10x or less, it's very clear.

I've got a Nikon Prostaff Rimfire 4x on my 452 FS. It's a great scope and you can find them for less than $100 every once in a while......

100 Yards Not Sure

I only recently got into rifles. My one and only rifle is the CZ 452 Lux. I mounted a 3-7x (33mm) Leupold VX II, however, it is more or less for hunting. For target shooting, you need something with a lot more magnification. I can barely see my targets at 25yards with the 7x setting... So the gentlemen recommending a 36x scope can't be that far off.

My scope is parallax corrected at 60 yards. For 100 yards, I imagine you'll need a true rifle scope for corrected/distortion free viewing. I also think that rimfire scopes usually have a "fixed" parallax for 50 yards typically. You'll want an adjustable one, or a true rifle scope parallax free at 100 yards.

I have a BSA 4-16x scope on my CZ-452 Lux (the one with iron sights). Not great glass, but plenty out to 100 yards, probably more. I don't have target pics, but with decent ammo and not much wind the rifle can reliably hit a quarter at that range. I suggest limiting your price to $100 or so and spending the money on ammo or other stuff.

I have the Leupold VX-II Rimfire EFR in 3-9x33 on my CZ453, but its more than your budget: http://www.opticsplanet.net/leupold-vx-ii-3-9x33mm-rimfire-efr-rifle-scope.html

I guess if you plan to shoot at 100 yards from a bench primarily, you should look into a scope with more than 9x magnification anyway. That Mueller APV is often mentioned as a good scope, especially for those on a budget. I'd steer clear of BSA, if I were you. I have one on a Marlin 22mag and I don't care for it much. I'll replace it eventually.

How about this: Nikon Buckmasters 4.5-14x40 SF (side focus), Parallax set 50yrds-infinity:

Recommendation fof a 22 scope primarily used for bench shooting out to 100 yds on a CZ 452?

My CZ 452 Varmint has the Mueller APV 4.5-14x AO on it. It works. No complaints. If I truly was going to shooting to 100 yds, I would look at the Weaver V24 which is about at your dollar limit where as the Mueller is about $125. I tend to shoot mostly at 50 yds, but shoot at 75 and 100 yds also with the CZ

I use the Warne Extra High rings and mounts. The "high" is just high enough for the scope to clear the barrel and the bolt. http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=16768/Product/7_3_RINGS

Here's a CZ 453 with the Mueller APV 4.5-14x40mm AO Riflescope and Warne 7.3 Rings, Extra-High (.715"). It works great 50-100 yards.
