Ok, it appears I am going to be getting a CZ 452 pretty soon. I have just about decided on the Silhouette version (synthetic stock - no sights).

This gun will be used for plinking at my outdoor range. Can anyone recommend to me a good affordable scope, and bipod for the CZ-452 Silhouette? Again, the key word is affordable.

I'd like to make this gun my baby sniper rifle.... :)

P.S. Anyone have any pics of their CZ-452 Silhouette? I am unable to find any pics besides the ones on the CZ website.

I have had good luck with the Swift scopes from www.eabco.com. I like the 6-18X44 Premier model with the target turrets. You will need high rings and the finicky CZ tip-off grooves can be hard to match sometimes. A good economical choice for tip-off rings are a set of extra high B-Square air rifle rings. They are stable and cost under $20 a pair. They have reversible jaws that give you the flexibility of using them on the U.S. 3/8ths inch dovetails or the Euro 11mm dovetails.

Here is my Swift on a CZ American in a set of extra high Millets. The American has 3/8ths grooves and your Silhouette has the 11mm style I believe.

The Anschutz in the picture carries a Weaver V-16 mounted in Leupold Rifleman rings and Weaver bases.

Mueller scopes are great on rimfires. I have an Eradicator 8.5-25 50mm on my 17hmr savage 93 and it has worked great. What cal. is your 452? The Muller APV scope also has very good reviews on rimfirecentral.com. muelleroptics.com

What kind of prices are we talking about with these scopes? Again, I am just shooting empty cans and paper targets. Not looking for a super duper scope with all the bells and whistles costing hundreds of dollars.

I still will need to buy a bipod as well. The CZ-452 I am planning to buy is .22lr.

Lightsped,

If you go to the E. Arthur Brown link above you can check the prices. A Swift 6-18 is priced at $219. The Weaver V-16 is on the swfa sight that Glock19 suggested and it is probably higher.

When you said "baby sniper" the Swifts came to mind.

A guy I shoot CMP Sporter competition with has a Mueller on his American and likes it very much.

Other options.

I purchased a nice old Bushnell Banner 4-12X40 (Made in Japan) at a gun shop in Huntsville, AL off of their used scope rack for $55. It rides on my Remington Model Five now.

I have another American that I use for shooting our club's monthly silhouette match (custom match called 50/50 Sporter) and I found this 4-12 Simmons Deerfield at a local pawnshop. The merchant had bought about thirty scopes that were new but over 20 years old that had been sitting in a closed store for years and the deceased owner's kids sold the scopes to the pawn broker. He had two left and he sold me this one for $50.

So, you may want to shop around.:)

Yes, these were also sold under the Charles Daly moniker as well. Serbian:rolleyes:. They are all steel and good wood (except for the plastic butt plate). Machined trigger guard. Neat adjustable trigger.

Funny, I toyed with putting that fine old Bushnell Banner on my cz 452 FS. But, with that hog's back low comb, I decided some all steel Leupold medium rings and the Weaver Classic Rimfire 2.5-7X28 was the way to go.

I had the big V-16 on it for accuracy testing using the aforementioned B-Square rings:

Find a Weaver Grand Slam 4.75x40 for about $140 and it will be one of the brightest, clearest scopes you can find.

Unless you need high magnification, I think it is probably one of the best bangs for the buck out there right now.

I think Natchez is still carrying them on special too.

A Leupold 2-7X32 Rifleman will work well on your CZ.You can get one at Academy Sports for $175.I think the CZ rings are about $45,if I remember correctly.Have big fun.....

Lightsped;

Here's a couple of suggestions: 1. If you want/need high magnification, there have recently been Simmons 6.5-20X scopes on sale at around $100.00 from some of the major marketers. Check Midway, Natchez, SWFA, etc. 2. If you don't need that much scope, check out the Sightron 3-9X rimfire also at the same price point.

The Simmons will have A/O, the Sightron won't & the parallax is set for 75 yards I think. I have that Sightron on a 10/22 & am perfectly happy with it, even though I got it some time ago & paid about $25.00 more for it. I do not have that exact Simmons, but the one I do have on another .22 is also very good glass for the money.

Now my personal CZ452 American has a Nikon Monarch 3.3-10X A/O mil-dot on it. These recently were available at under wholesale sale prices & are truly superior glass, but out of the budget range you've indicated.

At 22LR ranges a 4X fixed scope will do the trick out to 100 yards easily. Lots of 'em out there for under $100. I've had a BSA $39 one on my CZ-452 Lux for the better part of the last year. Before that that scope was on a Marlin 25N. I can't shoot this well but my eldest daughter can do nickel sized groups at 75 yards and quarter sized groups at a 100 with it all day. She could do almost as well with the same scope on the Marlin 25N.

I don't really believe you need a high dollar scope on a 22LR bolt action gun. it is the quality of the gun and the shooter that counts. The scope just needs to be good enough.

What kind of bipod will I need for the CZ452 Silohuette (first post)? I'd like to get a smaller bench rest style bipod that will not require any adaptors or fabrication.

I'd like to keep the bipod price at no more than $50 bucks.....

Hey Lightsped

I have a CZ 452 Amer .22 Lr it the most fun gun I have ever shot.

I looked at alot of .22Lr and scopes before I got one.The scope I got was

Bushnell Sportsman air rifle scope 3-9x32 adjustable objective focuses

Model # 72-0039c $89.99 at Cabelas. The scope and gun have worked

great for me. Not 1 problem and I have put 3500 round thru it.

Good Luck Lightsped

I have one of the old Bushnell Scope Chief models (from a few years ago) on my CZ 452 American, and it is great.

The "new" Scope Chief now seen in stores is a low end model, so I don't recommend it.

The rifle is simply awesome for the price. Put any decent scope on it and bang away. You will enjoy it!
