Hi all:

I searched through THR and couldn't find an answer to this so here goes...

I'm new to the Fort Myers, Florida area and so far have only found 2 pretty small gun shops. Can anyone here recommend a sizable (= decent inventory) gun shop in this area? I'm OK to travel down to Naples or up to Tampa if need be...

Thanks/Clona

Welcome to the board and to Fort Misery!

Gun shop in our area:

Jack's on pondella. Great selection alot of stuff stuffed into his store. Prices on reloading componets on the high side. Jack is really a nice guy but he acts like an alligator. keep that in mind when you go.

Gold miner gun and Pawn hancock bridge parkway:

Tommy runs the gun counter and every other weekend his dad mike runs it for him. ammo selection excellent. he's well stocked on hand guns right now. Not much in reloading supplies but he has good prices. rifle/shotgun selection not that great. i've dumped over 1600 dollars there in the last year

Gun masters on pondella: i've talked to this guy a couple of times. He's a twit. prices are ok on some guns.

Coate of Arms: Don is reasonable has an excellent overall selection. prices can be HIGH WATCH OUT! His son is a twit.

Cypress sports: HIGH PRICES

haven't been into chiquita guns but i hear he is a Wildey dealer.

Fowlerfirearms formerly port arms:no selection prices came down some what after the ownership change. range fee is exhorbrant. rules are nutty. (can't shoot your own ammo!)

The Citidel. i dunno if this guy is still in business. bought a shotty along time ago and a glock from him. He's an alligator PERIOD. had a decent selection back in the day. i haven't even bothered to go in there in years.

Sports authority: don't even waste your time. they have great prices on the stuff they carry but good luck finding someone at the gun counter to help you.

Kmart: LOL!

Walmart: usually someone there and they have a register. i only buy shoot n sees and some ammo there.

i can't say i've been into a naples gun shop. everything in naples is outragously expensive.

Area gun ranges:

Florida sports park is in Naples its a nice range. longer driver for us in lee county.

Babcock Webb: public range in south charlotte county. $3 per person to shoot. 12 bay pistol range (50 yard) primitave shotgun range, and a 5 bay 200 yard rifle range. 100 yard range opening when ever they get around to it :(

Hanson range: private. 200 yard rifle 3 or 4 pistol bays. shotgun range skeet/trap south charlotte co

Florida sportsmans association. private range. pistol and rifle i don't know about shotgun. south charlotte county.

fowlerfirearms see above 5 bay pistol indoor. open to public $15 an HOUR!

The citidel see above: not sure heard he has an indoor range not been to it.

babcock webb is my home range. the goldminer is where i spend my change.

Travel a bit north up to Venice and there's Regal Gun & Pawn (Venice Ave. just East of 41 Bypass). Mostly a gun shop, decent selection of pistols & revolvers...always something interesting. Also decent selection of rifles -- from C&R thru EBRs. Guy who runs it is a decent sort, willing to talk with you, not at you or down to you.
A bit further North is Sarasota Gun & Mercantile on Rt. 41. It's always worth a stop to understand that you are good human being...compared to the jerk who runs the shop. Compared with him, my ex-mother-in-law was a beautiful woman.
