Technically this thread belongs here but it might have worked well in the rifle optics sub-forum also. I need to decide what sights I am going to use on my AR pistol build. I am almost done with a 300 BO pistol build. Just a few more parts to acquire before I can finish the build. It's going to have an SBA3 pistol brace on it, 9 inch barrel with a hand-guard that will be just shy of the muzzle for a nice transition to the SDN-6 suppressor I have.
I realize I am going to have to get some sights and/or optic for this new AR and I am not sure what I want to use. I want to keep it relatively light weight and compact (no large objective rifle scope for example). It will be used for the occasional close range carbine match, as a truck/UTV gun around the hunting property, and maybe some close range deer/coyote/varmint hunting. Probably max range at a match would be ~120 yards, less if I am hunting with it.
I am not opposed to iron sights, but would want something relatively snag resistant and non-folding. I would prefer to stay away from the folding BUIS sight for the most part. Optics are always an option but for this gun I would want to the ability to turn the magnification down to 1x or very very close to 1x. Red dot in all their forms are thus acceptable recommendations.
This is primarily a fun gun so I am completely open to something new, funky, and outside of the conventional box. Lets keep the suggestions under $500 unless you think it's uber cool and way outside the conventional box.
As an example of something funky I am considering a Meprolight FT Bullseye pistol sight on some RMR AR mount if I can figure out how to make it adjustable so I can sight it in. That might require some machining on my part which I am totaling in for. A project for my little CNC is always an option.
I would love to hear what you guys recommend and/or are using on you AR-15 300 Blackout pistols.
