Recommendations for pistol scope

I need some recommendations for a good pistol scope for a Ruger MkIII Hunter. Budget is a concern but so is quality.
Not a red dot.

On my Ruger I have a T/C 2.5-8x (I think) with illuminated reticle that also works when turned off. I've been very happy with it.

Back in my NRA metallic silhouette days, I always used Burris pistol scopes, and I was never disappointed. Elevation adjustments always were perfectly repeatable, which is essential in silhouette. I don't have recent experience with handgun scopes, but I bet Burris still is near the top of the heap.

I've been using a 5X Burris for many years and have been happy with it.
Last year I bought a TC 2.5x8 that I'm real happy with.

The Weaver 2x is a great scope for the money. I am not a fan of many variable-power pistol scopes.
