So I just installed the hiviz sights on my Ruger MKIII, as well as the scope mount that came with it.
I'm going to sight it in on Sunday, but once I do, I wanted to put a scope or red dot on it.
Please recommend a good optics for this pistol. Something I can use to plink at cans at 25 to 50 meters. I was thinking a small zoom scope. But I'm open to suggestions :D

And of course, don't hesitate to post pics!

I mounted one of the cheapo BSA 5 MOA red dots. 5 MOA is about 2.5 inches at 50 yards which is better than I can hold, but I can still hit a soda can. I've been using the iron sights lately to help my kids learn. For my uses it's fine. I'm sure you could get a higher quality one but the BSA suites my needs at this time. Have fun.

I've used all manner of handgun scopes, magnified, red dot, etc. If you go with a red dot, get a 3.5 to 4 moa dot for target work and a 6-8 moa for really fast close work. If you are going with a magnified scope, I've found little advantage and a lot of difficulty exceeding 2x power. 4x gets pretty shaky. The Buckmark in the pic has a Millett 1 inch 4 moa red dot and it's one of the best dot sights I've had. $79 at Sportsman Warehouse. The small revolver has a JPoint heads-up dot, which I also like, but costs $275+. The Single Six is wearing a 30mm generic dot site, I thisnk it was about $50. The SRH has a Burrix 2x28, but it too is a little pricey.

There are so many and a wide spectrum of prices. I went modest and have no regrets.

+1 to Bushnell Trophy.
+1 to cheap BSA red dot (CDNN has these for $20).

Both have held up very well for me.

Hand gun scopes I didn't like, because the exit pupil on my Leupold was not large enough to be easily found at arms length making it hard to find the target.

+1 to J-Point except for its price!

Well,

My tackdriver sports a Bushnell Holosight. The Holosights are awesome red dot devices, and I've got 'em on both my Ruger MkII Target Model and my S&W Model 29-5 .44 mag. used for deer hunting.

On a Ruger Deerfield carbine, in .44 Magnum I've got another red dot sight, a low cost Millett at around $50 a few years ago.

Red dot sights are awesome for hunting in the deep woods, and for accurate target shooting!
