Recommendations for pocket carry gun

Pocket carry should be in the dictionary with a pic of a Keltec P3AT. I feel the best pocket gun for the money.

Go with the Guardian: Reliable as a pistol can be, durable as a tank, IF you ever need it a Lifetime warranty, shoots any ammo, and a great Custom Shop. I have a bit over 5000 rounds through mine.

Kel Tec P3AT as mentioned above.

You will like it better than the Guardian. I tried one of those in the store and it snagged on everything as I put it in and out of my pocket.

The Kel Tec is a lot less $$ too.

And if money is no object, get a Rohrbaugh. I would have if I could have found one, they are scarce.

I would go with the S&W J frame as well due to the reliability and caliber. BUT...I would peal off 259 dollars and get the P3AT as well. That gun will go with you ANTWHERE...Without exception!

I don't think you will beat a P3AT. It's small and light enough that you'll hardly notice you've got it. Mine rides in a DeSantis "Nemesis", even when I'm carrying something bigger IWB.

If the options you listed are the ONLY two; the NAA Guardian .380 would be my choice. The Kahr PM series is a bit big for pocket carry for me, although some carry them successfully. The same with baby Glocks.

My personal choice for pocket carry is the Kel-Tec P-3AT.

I've got the Kahr PM9 and the Kel-Tec P3AT. If my pockets are deep enough, I'll go for the PM9. If not, the P3AT. I'm more comfortable with the 9mm, but I'd rather have the .380 than nothing.

I would vote for S&W 642/442 using 38 Special +P 135 gr Speer Gold Dot short barrel ammo. You would have expected muzzle energy of 220 ft/lbs.

The PM9 was far too large and heavy for me to carry in the pocket.

You also don't have to worry about the reliability of very small pistols.

P-3AT - it's revolutionary IMO.

Get one and you will never go unarmed again.

As for being sub-caliber - 7 rounds of .380ACP really hurts.

Revolver

I suggest something in a 5 shot revolver, hammerless, or w/ a bobbed hammer. You don't need much up-close in a situation where you would be carring in the front pocket. You want to come out smooth and quick. Not hanging the hammer in the seam of your jeans pocket. At this point it is the element of suprise.

One may consider a model in .357 if you desire fire power, w/ the variety of caliber options. (38 spl, 38 plus P, and .357 all in one gun). I think that a 38 is enough up close. Shooting Plus P and .357 out of a pistol w/ just 2 - 2.5 inches of barrel is a heafty handful.

The Glock 26 shouldn't be thought of as a pocket gun, big and heavy and the "safe action", well, I'd leave it condition three if in a pocket.

I like the micro 9s like my Kel Tec P11, the PF9, the Kahrs, the Rohrbaugh, the Taurus PT111. These little guns are perfect, IMHO, for the armed citizen. Nothing wrong with an airweight .38 J frame, either. The P3AT Kel Tec is tiny and STILL chambers a decent defense round, though I prefer more. It's the next step down the scale in concealment, also the NAA Guardian and like little pocket .380s.

I agree with MC on one thing:

No Glock is a "pocket pistol" as the term is accepted. Of those you have offered, I prefer the PM9.

But.... Rule #1 of gunfighting is "Have a gun." Cliche and trite, yes, but not without a grain of essential truth.

If the P3AT allows you to accomplish Rule #1, then so be it.

PM sent, and good luck with your search.

the only experience I can share is with NAA customer service. they don't care if you're the original purchaser, don't care how old the gun is, they quickly make repairs and return the gun at their expense. the exact opposite of taurus/rossi customer service (that's another story):D

Kahr

Been carrying a PM9 since I got my license 2 1/2 years ago. Fits perfectly in cargo shorts or jeans pocket with a pocket holster, shoots to POA at 15 feet and is easy to control ... light enough that you forget it's there after a while, and it also fits in a great kydex paddle holster when you're wearing enough clothing to cover it ...

You'd haveto give me a Kahr... and then I'd sell it. (Do a search)

I don't consider the .380 to be enough.

So of your choices it would be the Glock.

In reality I would/do carry a J frame.

Put some firepower in your pocket, a .45 ACP. I carry a Kimber Ultra Carry II. It is almost the same size, and just as easy to carry as most of the other guns listed and/or suggested.
