Howdy, I just picked up the Remington 700 SPS tactical in 308 and am looking for recommendations on scope rings/base(s). I've got the Konus 6.5-25x44 on order and will be mounting that.

A friend of mine recommended EGW tactical base and Burris Xtreme rings. Any thoughts? Not sure if I want a one piece or two piece base setup.

Also, what size ring should I order (low/med/high)?

Any thoughts/recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

:D

if you want to spend some bucks, seekins rings are as good as they get. badger is good too.

lots of cheaper rings aren't 'bad' though. stay away from stuff you see in walmart or that looks cheap. too cheap is not a bargain. it will cost you a lot more in wasted ammo and frustration.

So I picked up Burris Xtreme Tactical Rings (in low for 40mm Objective) and the XTB bases. Talked to the guys at Burris (very helpful by the way) and they said they notice a minute difference between the one piece and the two piece. Pretty excited about the pieces to show up. Should be here before Christmas and I'll have this thing out shooting by the first.

Thanks!

Scope rings

I have a Remington 5R HB .308 with Badger rings and a Leupold Mark IV 2.5x10 with cams & milldot. The Badgers are great rings that are machined in pairs I believe. I also have another .308 with IOR rings that are quite serviceable. Another with PRI rings. All are serviceable but the Badgers are top of the line. If you want the best - go with Badger then IOR. All my rings are Medium height but I use only 40mm obj. scopes. My tired old eys can't take advantage of the 50MM scopes. Good shooting.
