One party mentioned KIK. I tried it several years ago. From lot to lot, there was a great deal of variance. Not much difference with Swiss, Goex, or Schuetzen.

American Pioneer Powder FFFG

I shot my 1851 .36 Pietta Navy using A.P.P. FFFG using the flask that came with the pistol from Cabelas. The discharge seemed awfully anemic. The ball went down range, but probably without much authority. At the same time, I fired my Pietta 1860 Colt, using Pyrodex FFFG pellets and that revolver shot with a robust discharge. I did not have any Pyrodex powder to make a comparison with the Navy between the two powders. Has anyone compared the two?

By loading 35 grains of APP fffg instead of 30 grains in an 1858 Remington .44 and really compressing it into the chamber by using a loading press ram before loading the ball, then its performance was very satisfactory.
That extra 5 grains represents 16% more powder.
And coincidentally, that's just about the opposite equivalent volume adjustment that's recommended when using 777 which is to load 15% less powder.
