who made the safety?
The safety is made by Seekins.
Thanks for all the comps. It's one thing to build a nice rifle, but always better when others like what you did.
This was Isaas's second build, his first one was about two years ago.
Now I need to order a red dot for the rifle and his red mags.

Nice job!! Can't wait to do the same, going to get my son into a 3 hr safety/first shooters class my club offers and see what he thinks. If he is a go, then maybe a 22 to start and we'll build something together.

Thanks for the heads-up on the CMMG AR .22LR Conversion Kit. Gets very favorable online reviews.

A note on that CMMG conversion... It is by far the most reliable 22 auto rifle me or anyone I know has ever used. Thousands of rounds without malfunctions. Shoot 500 rounds, still runs great. I had an issue, and CMMG's warranty was a no questions asked replacement (though they said they won't cross ship). Only complaint is the mags wore pretty quick. I would get a bunch of those Black Dog Machine steel lip mags. 44mag has them for 14$, and they do not wear.

Well, the Brownell's order with the safety and black gas tube showed up today.
With all the parts it was time to start the build.

Isaac did 90% of the work with me helping out here and there.

We had a great time putting it together. For each part, I went over what it was and how it worked. He did learn that the front detent and spring will fly across the shop if you're not careful. It's a good thing that dad keeps extra parts on hand. We had a good laugh when the parts went flying.
He said that he liked the Strike Industries Viper butt stock so we went with it. If he changes his mind we can chang it out.
He very happy with the way it turned out, but he did tell me that I need to order some red magazines. Looks like I need to place that CDNN order.

That came out awsome. Hes right red mags will bring the color down the lower nicely!
The .22 conversion a nice touch as well! I actually really like running .22s thru full size ars, more so sometimes than regular .223 rounds.

Excellent! Looks great, and you had great bonding time with your son. He'll be proud of that rifle ... and his dad!
Great pics; thanks for posting them.

Looking forward to a range report.

If it shoots half as good as it looks, ya got a winner! Very nice looking rifle.

Regards,
hps

My first thought was"gonna' be an eye catcher"...and for the record...I think I was right! Y'all made a good looking rifle! Thanks for the show and tell.
