I've used two.
A 4 reticle one like
THIS (except I paid about $45 for mine).
It was:
- durable
- fun to be able to select the different reticles
- short enough I could leave it mounted to the rail when I disassembled the Buckmark for cleaning - that way I did not need to re-sight it in each time I did a thorough cleaning (a BIG plus)
- a little frustrating because each reticle did not quite have the same Point Of Aim. Cycling through each reticle would move the POA over about 1/2" at 25 yards. Each reticle was consistent, but all four did not cause the bullet to hit the same spot. YMMV
And a
Simmons. My current one. (about $35)
It is:
- pretty durable. If I do not keep the battery and the contacts really clean, it loses power sometimes after a shot and the switch has to be wiggled a little to get it to come on again.
- bright enough (on the highest setting) to use outdoors on a sunny day
- it has a pretty small dot to allow for fairly precise shooting (at least what that means to me.)
- it has to be taken off the rail to get to one of the take-down screws to take apart the pistol for a thorough cleaning.
I had an Ultra-Dot on a 22/45, and it was a great scope. But it would be too long to allow you access to both take-down screws.
