Does anyone have any recommendations for a red dot mount, Weaver or Picatinny rail for a S&W K frame with fixed sights, like a Model 10 or 64?

The preference is for something low and relatively clean. Most of what I have seen available is for late model adjustable sight model K frames.

Stuff I've seen so far:

I've got the K/L frame weaver for my model 66-8. Oh how ugly it is. But, it helps with my reloads. If you get a micro red dot on it, shouldn't have an issue. I've considered milling mine down so it's not so long.

Nobody makes a mount for a model 10. Anything that would be done to accommodate an optic would have to be custom, which would involve drill holes in the top strap and if you change your mind, there's no rear sight to cover them up. At which point you'll spend way more than it would cost to trade it for an adjustable sight version and install an off the shelf mount with the provided holes.

Back when PPC was big, the model 10 was commonly used because it was cheap. Guns were fitted with bull barrels and full length sight/scope ribs.

Like this (not mine):

Do they not have a removable rear sight like a model 66? If it does, it's as simple as drilling and tapping, or having it done.

Have you looked into aimtech? They have a mount that uses the frame screws to mount. Kinda bulky compared to my weaver/red dot set up. Would keep from altering the gun.

Those are all made for adjustable sight guns and won't fit a fixed sight topstrap.

From the Trijicon site:
"Fits the Smith & Wesson K, F, L, H, N, G and X Large Frame Revolvers."

What the hell are F, H and G frames???

Silly Trijicon, they've let the secret slip out. If you know the handshake and the passphrase, I can post pictures of all mine.
Aren't those the frames where smith inverted the barrel? People thought those gag pics were fake.
