Greetings all and a Happy Thanksgiving to you!

Ive been reloading for some time now but have recently moved into .45ACP and have a question. When I bought my Redding T7 turret press some years ago it came with a set of Redding 45ACP & AR dies Series A (3 dies) - its their product number 80189. Never had any use for them so they sat on the shelf.

Now that I have a use for them my question is really simple - are these carbide lined dies? Or will I have to lube the cases (in which case I'll just buy a set of carbide since I cant see going to all the extra trouble on a straight wall pistol case).

I tried calling Redding but they are closed for Thanksgiving/Deer season so I':confused:m stuck with a new gun, a new calibre, all the components I need and this question. Sure hope someone can help with an answer or a way to findout.

TIA

It appears to me on the Redding website they are not carbide.

That would be the #88189 die set.

But you should be able to tell yourself by just looking at the sizing die.

If you see a carbide sizing ring in the opening, they are carbide.
If you don't, they are not.

BTW: You don't need to buy a whole set of dies.
Just buy a carbide sizing die #87189 and use the other two dies you already have.

Also, lubing is no big deal on pistol cases.
A light spritz of spray lube is all it takes.

I lube them all, even with carbide dies, as it makes sizing effortless.

Thanks,

to both of you for your help. Have a great holiday weekend,
