I had a Simmons scope atop my 3030 that was over 10yrs old. Over the last couple of years I noticed it was not as clear as I remember and was fogging up on a regular basis. In November I replaced the Simmons with a Redfield Revolution 2-7x33. After getting it mounted and bore-sighted I headed to the range for the real sight in. I was really impressed how quickly I was able to get this scope on at 100yds.
This particular model is usually compared to the Rifleman and the VX-1. IMHO, it is not any different than the VX-1 model. The adjustments seem to be the same exact types. They are not as stiff as the VX-2. The clicks are not as defined as the VX-2. I could not tell a difference in clarity or eye relief between the VX-1 and Redfield on low power or high power setting. IMHO it is a better scope than the Rifleman. The Rifleman did not seem to be as clear. (After seeing the clarity in the Rifleman, I put it down and never looked at it again)
Lastly, for those who care, the Redfield Revolution is designed, machined and assembled in the USA. If interested they are also coming with a $30 rebate until the 31st of this month (Revolution model only).
I hope this not very scientific review might help someone if they are debating whether to buy Redfield. I have bought scopes for less than $200 in the past and was never happy with the results. This is the first scope under $200 I have been truly pleased with.
