I have a SiG Sauer P225 that needs some lovin.'...I picked it up for a nice price and it is pretty clean inside but needs some lovin' beyond that...
I plan to send it to SiGARMS for the SiG Service Plan (SSP)...all new springs, the once over and some brand new night sights to replace the ones on the pistols right now...now to the refinish...and your help...
I had always had my SiGs electroless Nickle from Klein Plating...very reasonable and always beautiful...original platers for SiG...they don't do the job anymore so I have some choices.
*Tripp Research for the Hard Chrome with brushed flats-either all chrome or a combo chrome and black two tone (I have a 1911 done by Tripp and they are top notch)...and I like silver guns too.
*Robar for NP3-not as durable or sweet looking as Hard Chrome but the added benefit of the lubricity of NP3.
*SiGARMS own standard blue-I think I will pass on this option.
*SiGARMS Nitron on the slide and frame...about $240...I know very little about Nitron, is it like Tennifer or a coating or plating?
Any of the choices I have mentioned...with shipping should be about the same price...the SiGARMS option costs more but I would save the $50 bux shipping 2 ways as it will already be at SiGARMS...this puts their offer about the same price...
I would be glad to hear your thoughts and experiences on this...I really hadn't expected to pay for the pistol, pay for the "update" with the SSP and then pay for the finish work but...in for a penny, in for a pound, eh???
Thanks,
Bill
