I am hemming and hawing on the refinish for my SiG/Sauer P225...some of this is based on whether or not I do the SiG Service Plan (SSP) to get new SiGLite night sights or not along with all new springs and the once over by their smiths...I would like to hear your thoughts...

SSP Plus Full on Nitron (slide AND frame)...$390

SSP Plus Nickle Slide and Controls and Nitron Frame...$390

SSP and send to Tripp Research for Hard Chrome...similar all out price...Tripp's has not answered 2 email

SSP and send to Robar...similar price

SSP and ???

Get the SiG Parts Kit and keep the standard sights...do it myself for about $30 and keep it looking..."used"

Get the SiG Parts Kit and decide later about refinish...Black T, Ceramicoat...etc, etc...

SiGARMS assures me they can Nitron both the Carbon Steel slide AND the aluminum frame...

Confused in Chicagoland...;(

I sent my 225 to Robar for the NP3, Norton special. It's going to be ready right after the new year. I saw a picture of one over at sigforum that had the NP3, Norton special, and it looked awesome.

P.S. I just got my 226R back from Sig. I had the SSP work done on it. The Sig Lites look pretty nice on it.

Okay...that was one of the questions I asked Tripp's...I guess they bead blast it to get that "silver" finish???
SiGARMS assures me that they will Nitron the aluminum frame...I asked for clarification on this as it has been reported they only Nitron Stainless Steel, they can't do carbon steel, they can't do aluminum...their Customer Service rep says, yup...they can Nitron the slide AND the frame...
There is something to be said about keeping the gun "worn" with all the mechanicals "up to snuff" and like new...costwise is the least consideration but I could do this myself with the spring kit (minus night sights) for $30 and about 15 minutes...all the way up to one of the sweet finishes...I really appreciate the feedback.

If your heart is set on hard chrome, there are companies that will do it. APW Cogan is one. They first nickel plate your aluminum frame, then hard chrome it.

I had my 225 refinished in Sigarms k-kote a few years back and my 226 slide refinished with brushed nickel also at SIGARMS. The nichkel is holding up quite well.

Well, you learn something new every day!
I'm a big P226 fan, never held a P225 though.
Good luck, post some pic's when it's done.

For Tripp

They are not that expensive. They are only $90.00 for slide in hard chrome for sig and $10.00 for all the control's.

Nitron is applied over the frame's anodizing. If you've got an older P-series Sig, then this is a good option to "clean it up".
